Guest guest
Hi Group...I've been doing some reflection lately, so don't think I've gone " off the deep end " with this question. 's comment from her pharmacist prompted me to write this, she stated " I told my pharmacist I feel better and he said-I hate to say this, but there is no cure for Lyme. I asked him why and he said it lies dormant and then comes out when your immune system is down. " I was sitting in the hospital waiting room at 7:30 AM on Monday, waiting for my regular blood draw as requested by my LLMD. It was quiet and my mind started wandering. I also work in this hospital, so I was remembering when I started employment around 9 1/2 years ago - November '97. As a new employee, I was required to get a TB vaccine. (Now I wonder why they give adults this vaccine because it gives false positives on future TB tests - something I had about 2 years later, when my idiot EX-PCP put me on 6 months of Isoniazid, claiming I was exposed to TB). Anyway, about 3 months after the vaccine, I began quarterly cycles of colds / flus - I'd get sick for about 1 week (every 3 months), then get well again. After about 1 year of this, I thought I was picking up some bug through the vents in my new home (which I bought in 5/98), so I had a professional clean out all of the vents in my home (an all day job), and I had the vents / air conditioning replaced in my new car. All the while, I was donating blood on a regular basis, not knowing that my body does not generate enough iron / Ferritin on it's own, without taking supplements (which I wasn't doing). By Autumn 2000, I hit a physical bottom - Ferritin below 6 (should be above 50), near anemic, restless legs going 24 x 7, plus regular flu symptoms. I wonder if my Lyme infection was somehow tied in with the TB vaccine - which flared up every 3 months, then went full blown when my immune system was compromised in Autumn 2000? Prior to the TB vaccine, I did not have cyclical cold / flu symptoms. For now, I continue to do well with Amoxicillin and the Core Protocol. My immune system is strong and I'm still looking forward to walking out the other side of this long, dark tunnel. One day at a time...Tom
