Guest guest
Just to let you know, I don't think you are the only one with the dyslexia from Lyme. My 8 year old daughter is battling Lyme and currently undergoing IV treatment with Dr. J. in CT (and doing much better) had dyslexia as one of her symptoms as well. Also number reversals. These have disappeared with the IV treatment which is the only thing that has really worked in her battle so far. (She has been ill for half of her life) Lori Re: [ ] OT what irks me - millie Millie, I got into journaling. Computer files are just not as reliable at times. Although nothing is completely secure either. I also get hand cramps when I write too much. My handwriting has gotten sloppier over the years, and here's something I suspect is lyme related, but i'm not positive. I've gotten some sort of dylexsia*spelling, with my writing. I don't do it when I type, as I've been a typist for several years, but when I write. I tend to spell the simple words wrong, or rather, I write the wrong LETTER first. For example. When I want to write " stomach " I will start to write the TOM part before I write the S. It happens pretty often, and it's with small words that I know how to write. I just don't know why I do this. I'm sure i'm the only one with this, as it's annoying the heck out of me. I have to slow down a lot, and concentrate on every one letter (and yes, I do have ADD, which i've wondered if that is my underlying issue here). Guest guest
Me again, Just thought of something too that might help. My daughter started to take Provigil which is to help with the sleep rhythms. It is a drug wish also helps with ADHD. It was prescribed by Dr. B in New Jersey. We have found that helpful as well. Guest guest
Lori May I ask what med is the IV? Is it specifically for lyme or a co- infection? Thanks Rose Marie > > Just to let you know, I don't think you are the only one with the dyslexia from Lyme. Guest guest
That thing with the numbers. I have missed appointments so many times. I started carrying a mini-calendar with me. I write it on the day and time and I would write it on the wrong one no matter how careful I was. My profession was Numbers. I finally started asking for a business card and I'd bring it home and fill it in on the calendar. I have still lost appts. With the darn card and calendar. In fact I dug out the letter my Psychiatrist wrote me when he found out I had been diagnosed with Late Stage Lyme and not mental illness. His excuse in the letter was maybe I could find another Doctor who was willing to let me go so long between appts. I missed two. It was that thing. I would even look at it, see it and read it, and say it. In my mind it was registering as one thing even though I was looking at the business card with the correct date and time on it. Oh, that is next week. I can rest another week. I can't wait to get off line to rag on this Psy. He is a MONSTER. Babies and children having Lyme what an awful thing. Guest guest
The IV is Rocephin and she takes oral Zithromax. She also had Babesia and Erlichiosis so she was on just about all the orals last year....Mepron, doxy, Augmentum, Vibromycin, We " think " the co-infections are gone but Dr. J in Ct wonders if she has mycoplasma fermentis (spelling?) as she has had such a terrible time. Lab testing from IGenex showed the co-infections were negative this last time but still CDC + for Lyme. She also has a very low functioning thyroid. Will this come around if the Lyme clears up? Thanks Lori [ ] Re: dyslexia from Lyme Lori May I ask what med is the IV? Is it specifically for lyme or a co- infection? Guest guest
Lori, I had dyslexia and number reversals. That's gone now. I'm glad to hear that your daughter is doing better. My son is being treated by the GREAT Dr. J. in CT and is doing better as well. Be well, > > Just to let you know, I don't think you are the only one with the dyslexia from Lyme. Guest guest
Lori Thanks for answering. I've read that lyme loves the hypothalamus and thyroid (endocrine glands). Have you considered if she's low in iodine or selenium? I can try and see if I have something saved along this line if you want me to. Have you been to lymeautism group? Kathy has sent an enormous amount of info there and they probably could answer this for you, or at least point you better than I. I'm so unorganized with the info. Thanks for the info- I truly believe that lyme/co infections are the culprit for alot of learning problems- (inflammation of the brain/ blocked pathways) Take care Rose Marie > > The IV is Rocephin and she takes oral Zithromax. Guest guest
Rose Marie Thanks for the info. I will check out the other group as well. Just don't have a lot of time to do all the work and keep the other two kids I have from feeling left out . My daughter does have a very low body temp., low iron, low thyroid, restless leg, high cholesterol, as well as something she has always termed the " wiggles " inside. Sometimes they are in her legs, all over , in her stomach etc. She becomes very anxious when they are around and sometimes she explodes when she has them. These are only a few of her " minor " symptoms. The big ones like double vision, vertigo, quiet seizures, headaches, confusion, memory loss, sleeping 18-20 hours a day are slowly resolving. I will definitely try the lyme autism group for info. Thanks. Lori [ ] Re: dyslexia from Lyme Lori Thanks for answering. I've read that lyme loves the hypothalamus and thyroid (endocrine glands).
