I consulted an attorney and spoke to the Federal SS office. Both said there is nothing that can be done for me. Only ALS and renal failure patients can get a pass on the 2 year waiting period for Medicare. I was approved after 5 months, didn't have to file an appeal, because of my disability. So I guess that's why they won't waive the waiting period for me.I agree that the health care bill is not perfect, but you are right that we have to start somewhere! Particularly for me, I hope they make affordable health care available to people with pre-existing conditions and that they abolish the 2 year waiting period for Medicare. Allowing people to continue COBRA coverage even if their former employer goes out of business would help too! Allowing people to join large pools and having a public option is important to me as well. We need as many options as we can get!Take care!CarolynFrom: "TOBDNCNG@..." <TOBDNCNG@...>cvaughansell@...; low dose naltrexone Sent: Wed, January 27, 2010 11:49:16 PMSubject: Re: New MS Drug Exposure - Hint about Medicare - Negotiating your Medicare Hi, I too am on disability. I didn't know this, but your attorney can negotiate that two years. Because I waited 4 years for my measly amount of money, he asked the judge to grant the application 2 years earlier. The judge did that! Otherwise, I would just be using the Medically Indigent Adult Program with the County. There is lots to do to help our health care system and I hope they do something soon. I don't like some of the current things in the bill, but hopefully, there will start somewhere. Glowing, grace~
