Guest guest
As far as I know there is not that much that can be done for rheumatoid nodules. I usually have 20 to 30 of them at different places on my body, mostly on my hands. They can give cortisone injections into the nodule that sometimes helps for a while, or they can be surgically removed. Either way they usually come back fairly quickly. I have just learned to live with mine. God bless. From: Rheumatoid Arthritis [mailto:Rheumatoid Arthritis ] On Behalf Of Sent: Friday, March 10, 2006 5:35 AM Rheumatoid Arthritis Subject: Re: Nodule? I think mine is the same way, but I am always leaning my elbows on something, even a arm rest and it does hurt when there is pressure on it. I am seeing my Rheumy in early April. I don't need to have this checked any sooner do I? I will also mention it in my next OB appointment which is the end of March. > > It could be a nodule but my nodules are usually not painful unless I bump > them or put some pressure on them. Guest guest
These things get me curious and I often learn things by reading more about them. First I found that Colchicine is usually used for gout “Response to colchicine is suggestive of gout, but other diseases may also subside with colchicine, or spontaneously.” And later in the same article I found that nodules may be of more than three types: “When diagnosis is in doubt, subcutaneous nodules should be biopsied to differentiate gouty tophi, amyloid, and other nodules.” http://www.connective-disease.com/ It’s at least possible that some types of nodule will respond to Colchicine and others will not.
