Guest guest
I have been doing a little checking on back problems for a friend and I came across Dr Sarno. He put out 2 best-selling books about a back condition called TMS, or tension myositis syndrome . He claims that the condition is harmless and that people feel pain due to repressed emotions, which leads to oxygen deprivation in the muscles and nerves, and in turn causes pain . People who have followed his program claim to have been healed from recalcitrant back pain , basically by using mind over body techniques. here is more info: Tension Myositis Syndrome--describes a very common problem --back and neck pain--and redefines it as physical pain with roots in emotional tension. This syndrome was first theorized by Dr. Sarno at NYU's Rusk Institute. In the late 1970's and early 1980's he described in detail a theory, involving the connections between emotions, the brain, the limbic system, and the autonomic nervous system that generates this process. The end products is painful tissue that causes local pain (trigger points, areas of spasm) and sometimes distant pain (sciatica,etc.). The cure is educational and psychological and highly effective in most patients. Sarno , E. Mind Over Back Pain 1984 Sarno , E. Guest guest
Hello! I am 53 with severe, untreated scoliosis. (Well braced as a teen) I do get spasms. Goes, in phases - sometimes none for a long time. Then a period of constant spasms. Also, I do have bowel problems sometimes and I am assuming because my organs are being squished. I don't have any solutions for you. Just - know - you are not alone. Guest guest
I have been a member of this group for about 4 years I think. I just sit back and read the post. I have Ms and I am 4.5 LDN for me it is a miracle worker. If I forget to take it I cannot even walk down the stairs in the morning. I do get episodes of MS Hug I saw where someone had asked what to do about the spasms. I was in the hospital for 10 days about 2 years ago for sever pain and muscle spams. Not knowing any better they gave me a morphin drip with greatly intensified the pain I just wanted to die. So now I wear a ID bracelet which was LDN 4.5 for MS. This way people are aware. Now when I get back spasms if advil does not touch it I take Tramadol 50 mg. Usually after a week I can stop taking it. Before I take any new medicines I always call Skip to see if it is ok. He is such a wonderful person. JuDea in Nebraska
