Hi we have been giving enbrel shots twice a week with no problem. he

doesn't even flinch, when we tried the higher dose with one shot a week he

nearly jumped out of his chair ! He said it stung so bad, so we went back to

twice

a week.these shots don't bother him at all. Jane ( mother to systemic age

my daughter used to take 25mg enbrel twice a week, she didn't have a problem

with it then, now she is taking it once a week and she said it burns, I tried to

give it to her fast and slow she said it did not help

I'm taking Enbrel twice a week; I started with the once a week, 50mg dose

and it felt like injecting hot sauce! The 25mg dose doesn't hurt at all.

If you call 1800 4 ENBREL, they will tell you that it is the PH of the

solution for the 50mg, in that it has preservatives and is pre-mixed. I

would much rather take 2 shots a week that don't hurt than one that does!

On the Enbrel line they will give you suggestions for lessening the

sting, which I tried, but I guess I just don't have much tolerance for

burning shots!

As for Rob, he is on the 50mg once a week, and he says it does burn but

he'd rather just take it once a week. However, that needle on the

prefilled syringe is so dull that he has difficulty getting it into his

skin. So, he uses insulin syringes, fills them from the prefilled Enbrel

syringe, and at least he doesn't have a dull needle. He's much happier

since he thought of a way around the dull needle.

Hope this helps.

Hey there...It's sad when the day you look forward to the most is the day you

see your rheumy.....bad week: bad pain and bad emotions. Thank God for a good

wife.

Question: I'm going to my rheumy on Friday and hoping to get off MTX and onto a

TNF blocker. A man can only take so much pain, Percocet and Ibuprofen.

So....which is better....let me know...

Thanks
