Guest guest
Hi everyone, I apologize for the cross posting, but I only want to have to write this once. Many of you have been wondering, where I've been? Well, it's been a busy wonderful, but yet interesting last 3 months or so. I'll try to summarize, because I know we all have many many things going on in our groups, lives, etc. I know for some of you, this stuff will be repeated, but please bare with me as I'm sure their are new members, and people who I've not been able to be in touch with. I had my hip replaced six months ago due to severe arthritis. I am healing quite well and have built up a lot of strength in walking. I could not stand barely at all before surgery, and now I can stand 5 to 10 minutes. I couldn't barely take a step, now I can walk a block and a half assisted. So, I'm making progress. It's just taking time that's all. Now, for some good news!! On June 3, 2006 I got married to my new husband Chris! We had a neat wedding. We went to a school reunion in Vinton, Iowa at the school for the blind. We were originally invited back to the reunion to perform in the talent show, and the alumni committee suggested we maybe have our wedding there. At first we weren't going to be able to attend the reunion due to finances, and they were disappointed. It turns out, that in four weeks we planned our wedding to be held up at the school. It was a simple and small ceremony, and we are very happy! Now for some unfortunate news. About a week and a half after we got married, I developed a sinus infection which required an anti-biotic. I then developed a severe yeast infection. I was given a topical cream to treat it, and it made things much worse. I had burns all over, and was in a lot of pain. I cannot tell you how painful it was to have to use the restroom! Finally, took me to the hospital on June 19th because I was just in sheer discomfort! I was admitted for a week, catheterized and began a series of creams and dressing changes to heal the wounds. I also developed hemrhoids and unfortunately that was just as painful! I have Psoriasis, and also developed some open wounds due to the over abundance of moisture and the infection. Because of the catheter, I, nor felt comfortable with me coming home as we have the dogs and cats...and didn't want the catheter bag to break, or the animals jump on my wounds, etc. My doctor was not very cooperative at first, finally I was admitted to a low budget nursing home/rehab facility. I was able to continue the 24 hour observation that I wanted, and also get some PT and OT for my hip as well. It was a bit tough though at first because the facility I was put in was the place where my mom passed away from Lou Gherrigs Disease 13 years ago. It was a bit emotional at first, but after 3 weeks I was able to come home on July 18th. So, now we are trying to pack my place and move over to Chris's place. It's such a chore trying to down size into one household. We've got until September 5th, so we'll be pretty busy that is for sure. I know I've not been on groups in so long. But, with all of this you can certainly understand why. I'm going to try my best to make a concerted effort to at least post in once a week just so everyone hasn't thought that I've disappeared or something...lol. So, in summary that's what's been going on. I hope that everyone is well, and have missed my groups. I'm also not in quite as many groups, so hopefully that will help. Maybe I can keep up! *smiles* Look forward to talking to you soon. For your information, my new personal email address is below. Please take note of it, and if you correspond in messenger, etc. For some groups, I am using a different email address than this one, so please try to not be confused.
