Guest guest
You may have just read my post to Angelina, but I just wanted to let you know that I have always felt the effects of my Armour dosage changes within two weeks. Also the homeopathic variety I was on- two weeks. I'm not sure about which med you should request, but I'm guessing that since both your TSH and your T4 #'s are issues here, that you may need to be on something with both T3 and T4 (I love armour). Then again, I've never been on Cytomel and have heard many people say this is the only thing that works for them. Hopefully, someone here will be able to answer that one better for you! Take care~ Jeni > Hi all, > > > One quick question. > > How long before you start deciding that a medcine just isn't working > for you? I don't think I put my last reading ( did I???)......forgive me if I have.. TSH 6.46 Free T4 - 1.1 Now, just back in May I was 1.1 and then I went hyper......... Guest guest
I haven't discussed this idea with my doc but if it were any of you guys, would you go ahead and be requested to be put on Armour or Cytomel? Yup Make an educated decision, though. Have you gone on Shoman's thyroid site message board? There are lots of experienced women there who can advise you on your test results and their opinions as well. in Ca

Guest guest
, It all depends on whether Hashimoto's disease is in the active stage or not. Generally, once a person gets stabilized it is less likely that it will go into the active stage again. Getting stable, though, is the part that can be difficult. Best wishes, Celeste (who also has Hashimoto's) Pierce wrote: > it's my understanding that labs are all over the place with Hashimoto's. It depends on lots of different things. Whether or not its systemic, how long you've had it, how bad you have it, etc. I can tell you that I'm 36 & have had it since my early teens. According to my dr. my case is not as severe as some she has seen but is still systemic. I did 100% cold turkey & took the supplements, etc she instructed starting with leaving her office. But that is no slip ups, no cheating, no keeping one or two favorite things that I just couldn't give up. I had die off for a couple days & by the third or fourth day saw some improvement. But I'm sure results very person to person, Good luck, Ellen

I see absolutely nothing (22 hours) Don't worry, Lizzie, it may take up to a week for a skin starting to form. Did you have any starter liquid with the cultures? If not, it would be advisable to add a few tbsp of vinegar over the brew for protection, providing some starter acidity. > remember correctly, I should be seeing a skin on the top of the tea by > now. > Or am I anxious? THAT feeling is a very common one when you start brewing. Relax and leave your cultures to get on with it. They probably will need a bit of extra time to acclimatise to YOUR environment, which no doubt is great. It's like having a new baby ;-) you need time and patience to find out about each other's habits. It is important not to disturb your brew (no wobbling, shifting etc!) for at least 8 days ... then have a careful look and sniff. The fermentation will most likely take at least 2 weeks. Your reward in the end will be your own health-detox-tonic with hopefully a baby-culture forming on top which may yet be very thin. Once the Kombucha tastes acidic enough you can then take the original 'mother' culture together with the 'baby' culture plus a bit of the ready fermented brew to start off your next batch. Don't worry, you will be fine, Lizzie! Guest guest
I think you should talk to your ortho because I had my right knee replaced in January and it feels great. I mean if I sit too long it's a little stiff but not much pain and I can walk just like I used to. I do notice that if I overdo it (July 3 and 4 walking a long way from parking to where we watched fireworks carrying folding chairs) I feel a littl creaky but really I just take to arthritis Tylenol each morning and that is enough. I think you need to ask your OS why you haven't recovered more thoroughly because I would expect it. I'm younger than you but probably much more overweight and have actually gained back some weight I lost after surgery so I don't think that's the issue. What sort of ROM have you gotten? How was your PT experience after your surgery? How long I am 61 and had my left knee replaced in November, my right knee inDecember and they are still stiff and in pain, especially at night.Since the surgery I lost 26 pounds so there is less weight on myknees, but still hard to stay on my feet any length of time.I have a pain pump to control a failed back surgery and it should helpmy knees too, but it doesn't seem to keep the knee pain down. Myright knee hurts the worse and the pain shoots to my back right to theprevious injury. How long should I wait to expect less pain and more movement?Sherry & Terry Megabucks RanchReno, NVwww.MegabucksRanch.com~ a dog that lives outside has an address~ a dog that lives inside has a home
Guest guest
Sherry: I had my left knee done in Dec. 2006 the same time as you. I am 60. Pain is such a variable subject it is difficult to address. I mean what you might call painful I might call annoying. Anyway I have stiffness if I have not moved my knee over a period of time say 3-5 minutes. When I get moving there is not pain in the joint however the muscles are complaining a little if I really push them. I can walk up stairs without using the rail but the muscles or tendons hurt a little. I usually use the rail to help pull myself up. I would say that my arms are doing 20-30% of the work going up stairs. Recently I have noticed a weakness in my knee when I get out of bed in the morning or after I have been laying for sometime that I did not feel before. I think this is because the nerves are healing and that the weakness was there anyway but did not get the signal before. Overall it is getting better and I take no medication of any kind. I went to the fair two days ago and walked about a mile or so. The knee worked fine but my other joints complained after a while (ankle and hips and back). I think that is general old age pains. I have read other posts saying it take about a year for it to get to the point were you not reminded that you have a new joint. Hope this helped. Guest guest
Sherry, Congratulations on your weight loss. That's a one heck of a victory! Mine is coming off...slowly. What does your surgeon say about your pain and stiffness? I hope you are still in follow-up appointments. You should be, and you should not be charged for them since this is all still a result of your surgery. I had both my knees replaced in September. It took me four months to start quit limping. Everyone is so different in the way they heal. My knees still swell and get sore. I take Tramadol and Advil for the arthritis throughout my body and that takes care of the knees also. My brother, who is 11 years older than me and a much bigger, guy had his knees replaced one at a time in January and April. Despite our expectations, he healed better than me. I'm feeling pretty good. I mowed the yard the other day with a push mower, but someone reminded me that may not be the best way to preserve the knees. So perhaps I better stick to walking and swimming. I believe swimming is making all the difference for me as well as the warm weather. It doesn't do much for my allergies, but it certainly helps the aches and pains. I am supposed to be doing pre-diabetes training, but recently moved and still getting settled. I do need to check on that and to ensure my sugar is under control and not interfering with healing. Can you do water workouts? Are you applying ice therapy to your knees at night? I am doing that also on the worst nights. But I believe if I were you, I wouldn't wait any longer to get a new set of x-rays and answers from the surgeon just to be sure. I also wonder about scar tissue. Get in there and start asking questions. It may be that you just need the full year to get where you need to be. But you want to be sure. And let us know what you find out. Wishing you the very best and with warm regards, Donna Bored stiff? Loosen up...Download and play hundreds of games for free on Games. Guest guest
Hi , I hope some of the partners of those with Stills will chime in about coping mechanisms and such. It has got to be hard on the family to not only see your loved one go through this, but also to deal with we all know can be a very difficult attitude. Regarding your questions... 1) flare and meds: for me it took about six months for even slight relief of symptoms and about 2 years before fairly decent relief. It's a game of playing with all the med options and building those and seeing what works. For me I am an several meds, but we have had to build those up and play around to see what works. 2) diet: personally I don't get relief from Stills due to diet, however, I do in general feel better when I eat a lower starch/carb and higher protein diet. This is a meat and vegetable based diet for me. Not that i don't eat potoates or rice or fruit, I do, just in smaller quantities. BUT..the catch for me is that when i am feeling really bad Stills-wise, eating a higher protein diet isn't an option because my stomach is usually ill feeling, so I have to eat a higher carb diet, grrrrrrrrr. i am so glad you are coming here and asking questions and getting informed and educated. it's great to see you involved in your husband's health. And remember, you can come here to vent anytime as well. Houston, Texas

My wife now row up with a disabled father who did not allow any pity at all. He was a some what angered man but only in the fact that he had to fight so hard just to get a job to support his family. but when it come to how to treat fairly a spouse who is disabled she dose this great but then again 30 plus years of watching her mom and dad I now reap the benefits of it. so talk talk and then talk some more to each other share your feeling and fears but love to no end each other because stills in a house hold is not easy for any one Hugs The redneck Marty ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Get the Yahoo! toolbar and be alerted to new email wherever you're surfing. http://new.toolbar.yahoo.com/toolbar/features/mail/index.php
