Guest guest
Thanks in advance for any help that can be provided. I live in a rural town and only have access to one doc who is very conservative in his treatment of my low test problem. My test levels were down to 50 and after using androgel for a month it has only rose to 110. I have exlained that it is reccommended by many that hCG be used also, but he will not prescribe it. He says insurance will not pay for it and it is too expensive to use, but mainly he believes it is not good for you. At one point I was on clomid which helped, but the doc who gave me it moved and this doc won't let me have that either. My questions are what alternatives are there to hCG? Is it true that insurance will not pay for it? I would also like some input on just how much androgel has raised peoples test levels. Maybee 5 mgms vs 10 and such. I realize everyone is different, but I am really curious. Thanks much.

Guest guest
Hi , My T level was 48 before I started TRT about 4 years ago. My internal med. doctor prescribed 10mgs androgel that raised my T level to around 680 or so. After about year and a half I talked him into refering me to an endrocrinologist. (I know that a lot of guys on this board have had problems with endros... but mine has been great). He changed my prescription to self injected Depotestosterone and after much discussion and research he agreed to prescribe HCG. He also said that it would be expensive and that my insurance would not cover it... he was partly correct. At the time The American Society of Clinical Endrocrinologist recommenden 2000 units... three times a week. Every thing that you will read on this board will tell you that tis is far to much. Anyway, at this level it would be expensive... but he had no objections when he asked how I was doing on HCG and I told him that I was injection 500 units three times a week and my testicles had returned to their original size and felt " alive " again. One vial of HCG cost about $55 and last for a month. I don't mind paying this amout out of pocket to have " the boys " back. My advise is try to get refered to another doctor who will be more open to work with you. You have to be proactive with our condition try to get back to feeling " normal " again. I'm keeping my T level aroud 800 - 900 now on the T injections and feel really good. HCG work and is well worth the minor expense. I don't know of any substitute but I'm sure other guys here who are much more knowledgable in this matter thatn me will address this issue. Good luck! Guest guest
Yes insurance pays for HCG doing androgel 5 grams and only going up to 110 tells me your not getting the T from the gel into your blood through your skin. You need to try shots start at 100 mgs every week. You need to get your Total and Free T levels up in the upper 1/3 of your labs range for a young man. Also you need to have your Estradiol tested if high it will keep you feeling down and kill your sex life. HCG costs $ 45.00 to $55.00 for a months supply. The best one is Novarel call Wall-Greens or Wal-Mart and get a price. Go to www.allthingsmale.com Read TRT: A Recipe for Success and the HCG Update show it to your Dr. and tell him you need to try this. I did it and now feel my best ever in all the 22 yrs on TRT. Read this link so you are more up on this. http://www.lef.org/protocols/prtcls-txt/t-prtcl-130.html If your Dr. does not want to treat you and your in a rural then tell your Dr. you want him to work with Dr. over the phone to treat you. He does this and will have your Dr. up to speed in no time. Phil Ody <dragonslayer1010@...> wrote: Thanks in advance for any help that can be provided. Guest guest
Hey - your levels seem very low. 110 ng/dl is way below the normal range. Do you have the test range that the test was performed under? You may not be absorbing well. Typically, the 5 gram pouch will get you in 300-400 range. You might ask about getting shots instead of the gel which is also much cheaper. Use of HCG has been used by several as both a supplement and sole source of TRT. If the doctor prescribes it as TRT, then some insurances have paid for it while others only consider it a fertility drug and will not cover it. You can get it for ~ $45 per vial which is good for 30 days. Some data supports that injections > 500 iu is in excess and will not increase your T production and can possibly desensitize you long term. However lower levels seems to be OK but there are no long term studies to support it so docs are resistent to prescribe it. Guest guest
--- Hey brian, I feel your pain bro. I can't get my Endo to sign off on HCG either. My Total is pretty low as well; around the 220 range which blows. I just took a T shot today but I'm thinking I may need to change brands. I'm really worried like you. I feel some odd sensations in my testicle area the one I had surgery on as a kid, so I feel, I may need another surgery to determine if there isn't cancer or more abnormalities present. Dude if you want to chat I'm avialable just email me. Afternoon to the other members. __________________________________________________
