I don't know much about this but I would not eat after 8pm the night before. I

did a search and found this about it.

I don't see any reason to skip your coffee or breakfast on this type of

test...especially since the doc gave no instructions to do so.

However, since it is a test that deals with calcium levels and parathyroids,

it might be prudent to skip any high calcium dairy food products and

supplements...

After more thought, I think I'll disagree with my last sentence below, and

change it to read:

Calcium-rich foods shouldn't matter, since I think they are essentially

injecting calcium in your blood to see if the parathyroids shut off like

they should with high calcium levels.

Jack, please let us know what the docs told you.

re: Parathyroids - one of the things my surgeon did after my thyroidectomy

was to test my blood for calcium levels every two hours for my 24 hours stay

in the hospital, and I had to take OsCal tabs every four hours. Apparently

they expect some kind of calcium crisis when parathyroids are messed with.

they're attached to the thyroid, and I guess can get some trauma from being

detached. The surgeon told me she had to shave off a little bit of one of

mine, but the rest of were unscathed in the ordeal.

As TRT patients, calcium levels are a concern for us, as improper hormone

balances can lead to osteopenia or osteoperosis.

jerry ,

I can't think of any restrictions. I've had thyroid scans with no

restrictions and it right in the same neighborhood.

It seem that most of us on here use either Testosterone shots, HCL, T Gel or

T Patches for their Testosterone replacement.

I've been reading about testosterone pellets implanted under the skin

(usually in the butt). They are suppose to deliver testosterone evenly and last

for

3 to 4 months.

Was wondering if anyone here uses them, knows anything about them, etc.?

thanks,

Jim

Earnest here is a big fan of them and has had good luck with them. The

problem with them is dosing. You can't fine tune them once they're in.

Shots can be adjusted to reach a good level, gels can be adjusted.

Hi,

I have been receiving hormone pellets since 1991.

The big problem is finding a good doctor that provides that form of

therapy. I only know of 2 so it matters where you live or if you can

afford the air fare to Augusta GA to see Dr. R. Don Gambrell, or Baton

Rouge, LA to see Dr. Lovell.

I will answer all your questions and those I can't, can be addressed

to the doctor who might take a week to get back to you.

Hi,

I'd like to respond to your note indicating pellets have a dosage problem.

There have been some rumors that pellets had to be dug out for some

reason or the caused infections. Some doctors may have done that but

the doctor I see has never heard of this from other Endocrinologists.

Dr Gambrell is well published and you can check his credentials on GOOGLE.

The dosage is determined by your weight. Your normal source of T shuts

down when the pellets start dissolving 24/7 so the pellets are your

only source. Dr Gambrell has never had a dosing problem with his

patients. He also provides much more T than other doctors who have

very little experience. During my last visit he mentioned there seems

to be no serious results from accidental high doses of T. He mentioned

large doses being used to treat some conditions with high T in the

past. I forget the conditions he mentioned.

Hi,

I recieve 20 - 75 mg pellets every 4 months and the doctor intends for

me to be in the 800 - 1000 range. Many do not get into this high range

and give up TRT because they see no benefit.
