I am unaware of any center currently using cryoablation alone as a breast cancer treatment. It has been seven years since doctors at Anne Arundel Medical Center in polis showed that cryoablation was a safe and effective method for removing small ultrasound-visible breast tumors (Tafra 2003). The slow pace of development of this treatment is frustrating, especially for patients who seek a way of avoiding surgery entirely. " Tafra L, SJ, Woodward JE, et al. Guest guest
I had cryo on 4 tumors in Oct/09. In Jan/10 had a PET Scan, 2 tumors no change, 1 tumor (which was low grade to begin with) shrunk a bit, another tumor spread to 2 or 3 more lymph nodes and it's SUV Max went from about 6 to almost 12. That means high grade tumor to extremely high grad tumor. The treatment lasted 2.5 hours and cost $30,000. I wonder if he'll give me my money back.
