Urinary Tract Cancer

Hello,

My name is Tami and I just joined this group.

My sister called me this morning and told me that our mom looked terrible

when she got up. She is all swollen (stomach) and sis noticed there was

blood in toilet so she asked mom what was going on and mom said that she

thinks *thought* that it was because she has been having a rough time going

to the bathroom, sometimes not going for days and days (she's had this

problem ever since I can remember and has always taken some sort of

laxative).

Sis called doc to make an appt. and asked if he had gotten the results back

from an MRI that was performed last Thursday on mom's lower extremities. He

said he just got them this morning and that it's urinary tract

cancer......so the blood was coming from when she pees, not from the " other

end " like mom suspected.

Okay......we don't know how advanced it is and I told my sister NOT to tell

mom because she has been talking nonsense lately like, " I don't think I'm

going to be around much longer " ........crap like that......so her mind is

compromised and I feel that if she knows this news, she will just give up

the will to live and I can't and WON'T have that !

We know she will NOT opt for chemo or radiation because my dad died of lung

cancer (he didn't smoke) and then it spread to the bone and they gave him

chemo. He died six mos. later in 1992. This was all before I knew what I

know now.....so I KNOW she will not want to go through that IF she would

know it's cancer.

I need to know what we can do to stop this and get her back on track and

healthy again. She is filling up with fluid again and had to have her

stomach tapped a week or so ago and that's when you could feel a lump in her

lower gut. This immediately sparked fear in my sister AND in me,

sadly........I don't want to admit that because I am not a fan of fear

control, but it never fails, when you hear that " C " word.......well, ya

kinda just lose it for a minute, ya know?

Anyway.......PLEASE help me to help my mom. She is 83 yrs. old and she has

longevity in her family, so I know she's got some good years left to live.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks from the bottom of my heart,

Tami
