Dear ,

They are not ozone generators. They are ion generators.

I am presuming these ionic breeze things Sharper Image sells are ozone

generators. If there were any negative effects from being in a room all day

with one of these things, would we not have heard by now?

We got one too when the furnace electrostatic filter seemed to still let

dust circulate. And the ozone like smell is a concern. However, Saul says it

is not ozone. Anyone know what we are smelling?

,

Apparently ionization produces a minute amount of ozone and that's what you're

smelling.

Dear Jim,

They will take dust out of the air.

They can make you feel refreshed from the negative ions.

  • 1 year later...

Who here knows about the Ionic Breeze? I have one but can't conclude

whether it is effective against mold and such or not. Does anyone know if

the ion output on them are positive or negative? Also, is the ozone output

sufficient in these?

I agree Arthur. I am so glad I invested in a good air cleaner with an

ozonator in it. I feel that not only does it clean the air better but

it also seems to really keep the molds and mildew down too, if I run

it whenever I am not around. I can sure tell when I forget to run the

ozone function for a day or two!

Since some reviewers note that they can small a bit of ozone, it may be enough.

You want it just barely detectable when coming into the house from outside.

Blessings!

OH, I can definitely smell the ozone, so I guess it is plenty. I keep the

unit on high, I think I'll set it lower.

Thanks,

Ken
