Oh my goodness I CAN relate.  Slightly different situation…current

aspie husband and his mother.  His mom lavishes him with pity…. poor him

for this or that.  years ago, on Christmas day, our then 6 year old woke up

sick with a fever.  Steve, my husband (and father) was angry that this 6 year

old was going to ruin his Christmas.  After hearing the news, his mother carried

on with the  “ohh poor steve’ routine.   It was weird to me.  I

couldn’t believe or understand they felt no empathy for his sick daughter

and what her Christmas celebration would be like.   it’s been a little

like living in wonderland…….very confusing.
