Yes, I have a lot of trouble with my right hand, too, including the wrist. I have learned to use the mouse with my left hand. You might want to give it a try; it sure makes a difference for me. Another thing that helps: rest that hand at night by using a splint, especially if there's swelling that goes up into the wrist where it can eventually lead to carpal tunnel symptoms. It's that repetivie motion that seems to aggravate things -- no matter how small they seem. Patty B in the Pineywoods of East Texas

Guest guest
My brother-in-law calls my pinkie my witches finger. ) My manicurist hates my middle finger because the nail bed has spread out and the nail refuses to grow straight, she has to put an artificial nail on crooked to get it to look right. Guest guest
Hi and , > I'd suggest calling the Rheumy. There is no Rheumy in the military > community in which I live so I depend on close interaction with the > GP and Ortho Drs. Although my experience is 'ancient' when it comes to seeing a specialist for my hands/wrists, it turned out that seeing a plastic surgeon was the best. It's interesting that their techniques are so different when it comes to surgical treatment for carpal tunnel. > <snip> I have wrist braces to help reduce > movement and found it only helps at night. The main thing about wearing braces at night is to allow the nerves to rest and heal from the trauma of the swelling and motion, at least, that was my understanding when it was explained to me. > in Japan What a seemingly interesting place to be stationed. Which branch? Our eldest son was stationed with the AF along the western border of Germany for several years, especially during Gulf Storm. He also did temporary duty in Spain and Turkey and got to see some truly interesting sites. His older sister was in Saudi Arabia (the " sandbox " ) with the army for over 9 nine months just when that last scud missile hit a post. Thankfully she was on the far side of the post from that! Our youngest son in the AF was stationed at the academy that supported the military during the war. So all three are Gulf War veterans. Guest guest
Your note made me laugh and it felt good on this bad day. I'm deathly afraid of needles and have to take loads of valium just to walk in the dr office to get the cortizone shots. LOL!! They'd have to knock me out cold or realllly drunk to go to an acupucturist, but thanks for the sentiment. Guest guest
- I'm also having a flare in my hands. Saw my rheumy - she manipulated a few joints till I screamed - but she didn't change any meds or offer any new advice. I've been trying a wrist splint on my right hand to help - I also think the mouse usage is contributing. I also have a wrist pad at the bottom of my keyboard. I'm still in major pain though - don't really know what else to do but try to grin and bear it. Good luck,
Guest guest
Yeah but guess what acupuncture doesn't hurt like shots do. It;s less and I mean a lot less than pinch and you will actually feel relief. Go see a hypnotherapist if you need to deal iwth the needle phobia. Trust me if it;s that or shots go for the acupuncture. _Adriel > From: " " <ottersea@...> > Reply- egroups > Date: Sun, 03 Sep 2000 10:15:37 -0000 > egroups > Subject: [ ] Re: question: PA & hands > > > Your note made me laugh and it felt good on this bad day.
