Guest guest
My fiance had to stop taking all of his pain meds one week before his second hip replacement surgery and it was excruciating, but he got back on his Indocin as soon as he got out of the post-surg recovery room. Seeing him in such pain during that week will haunt me for years. I am glad that you posted that info, in case he needs any other surgery in the future. If on steroids though, be sure to let the surgeon know as you will need a " shock dose " of steroid when having surgery.
Guest guest
Hello all, I'm really glad to know this. I did think about my meds and my appt with my surgeon for tomorrow. Not sure if I wrote to the group or not about this but I've been told that I have another breast lump that has grown and changed some. It was two years ago that I had two surgeries to remove pre-cancers on the same side. I had one done by steroptic (sp) and one by general surgery.....the first one I was awake for and you lay on a table and there is a whole that your boob falls through, you are given injections to numb area and then the surgical biopsy is done - i don't want to do that again. I've decided I don't need to be that brave any more. My blood pressure really went up and I don't want to experience that again. The second surgery was to remove a mass and couldn't be done that way. I will make list of meds, mtx & sterioids for sure, remicade infusion 2 was last week. I'm hoping for lumpectomy and biopsy and then deal w/whatever the results are from the biopsy. As I was adopted and got only so much info from biological mother 2 1/2 years ago and did learn that there is breast cancer on her side of the family I don't want to risk anything. nanc --- TADEL630@... wrote: > In a message dated 3/30/01 6:34:56 PM US > Eastern Standard Time, > abstracthinker@... writes: > > << stopping Methotrexate 2 weeks > before a surgery to prevent infection or other > complications >> > > I had 2 surgeries while on the MTX - no > problems at all.
