Guest guest
After hearing so much about Temple Grandin, we got the video. It has been on HBO but we don't subscribe to it, so waited for it to hit the shelves. It is an awesome movie. One thing she did was to build a cattle type shoot that holds them firm. she said that human touch "hurt" her and this non humane type contraption is what calmed her. Made me wonder if anything like this has ever been developed? Another thing I got out of the movie (there were many) but she talked about her mom never giving up on her and how her mom insisted on pushing her towards "normal" both socially and mentally,,,she wouldn't be where she is today. Temple was born during the 50's I believe and during that time they instituionalized children who had undiagnosed AS/Autism. Wonder if research goes back to those children/adults when they are trying to figure out the cause of AS. I do not believe there were many cases? or was there and they were diagnosed as mental retardation?
