Guest guest
Hi, eat 2 to 4 apples in 1 sitting and that will clean you out. Apples are a natural laxitive, but you need more than 1. 2 usually will do the trick for me. You can also try herbs with senna and cascara in it, but people say those can be habbit forming. activemom22000 <peggysue6@...> wrote: I have chronic constipation and do not want to have to use laxatives all the time help! Guest guest
Peggy, When I added 500 mgs of Magnesium to my daily supplements, that went a long way in having normal bowel movements. However, constipation means that fecal matter can putrify in your system sending toxins into your blood stream. You really do need to look in to a good colon cleansing program and there as many besides Dr. 's. Find one you can do that fits your life style. I use a herbal formula that comes in tablets that I like. I can't afford the urgency to get to a bathroom where my job is concerned because it is not always possible, and I don't have the luxury of days to spend at home, taking care of that business! Guest guest
Peggy, You may want to see your doctor about this if it continues to be a problem. My husband took senekot when he was in chemotherapy and it worked well for him. Also, you might try eating more fiber or using a fiber supplement. My grandmother takes a prescription laxative called miralax that helps her a lot. You drink it in tea or juice. Hope this helps. Constipation? Guest guest
Peggy, Bad bowel bacteria can cause contipation OR darrhea, or even both. Because nearly all of us are somewhat deficient in good bowel bacteria, it makes sense to incorporate a small amount sugar-free inulin into our diet to feed them. It is also a soluble fiber. regards, Duncan Crow > > > I have chronic constipation and do not want to have to use laxatives > all the time help! > > Peggy
Guest guest
Have u tried Psyllium Husks?? I take 1 tbsp in a large glass of water at night. They act like a gell and clean out the icky stuff and dead yeast off the lining of your intestine. Also go to " heathers IBS website " (not my website) it has some great tips for dealing with constipation.... and the difference between insolubale and soluable fiber........which foods have which. http://www.helpforibs.com There is excellent yoga poses to help relax your body... I find I am often stressed when I have bowel issues.. simply taking time each day for myself with deep breathing and a few yoga poses can help a lot From the website: Why is soluble fiber so special? Because unlike any other food category, it soothes and regulates the digestive tract, stabilizes the intestinal contractions resulting from the gastrocolic reflex, and normalizes bowel function from either extreme. That's right - soluble fiber prevents and relieves BOTH diarrhea and constipation. Nothing else in the world will do this for you. How is this possible? The " soluble " in soluble fiber means that it dissolves in water (though it is not digested). This allows it to absorb excess liquid in the colon, preventing diarrhea by forming a thick gel and adding a great deal of bulk as it passes intact through the gut. This gel (as opposed to a watery liquid) also keeps the GI muscles stretched gently around a full colon, giving those muscles something to easily " grip " during peristaltic contractions, thus preventing the rapid transit time and explosive bowel movements of diarrhea as well. By the same token, the full gel-filled colon (as opposed to a colon tightly clenched around dry, hard, impacted stools) provides the same " grip " during the muscle waves of constipation sufferers, allowing for an easier and faster transit time, and the passage of the thick wet gel also effectively relieves constipation by softening and pushing through impacted fecal matter. If you can mentally picture your colon as a tube that is squeezing through matter via regular waves of contractions, it's easy to see how a colon filled with soluble fiber gel is beneficial for both sides of the IBS coin. As a glorious bonus here, normalizing the contractions of the colon (from too fast or too slow speeds) prevents the violent and irregular spasms that result in the lower abdominal cramping pain that cripples so many IBS patients. This single action alone is the reason I don't eat anything on an empty stomach but soluble fiber. Ever. The only foods I want to trigger my gastrocolic reflex are soluble fiber, as that's the only way I can keep those contractions (and thus my life) normal. I routinely snack on small quantities of soluble fiber foods all day long, every single day. If I don't have a chance to eat or I'm not that hungry, I'll take a soluble fiber supplement. Good luck! Guest guest
Hi Peggy, Overcoming constipation requires, first, considering your diet, whether you have food sensitivities, what foods are best for you that you can digest without bloating or digestive discomfort, the amount you are eating at one time, whether you are eating processed, refined foods, junk foods, sugars and white flour (all bad), or whether you are eating fresh vegetables, fruit, fiber, protein. Check out this site: http://curezone.com/diet/default.asp If you begin paying attention to how you react to foods and start focusing on imporving your diet, the next thing is exercise. Getting some exercise outside in the fresh air and sunshine, so your body takes in the energy of the sun and gets some vitamin D. Next is water, drinking 6-8 glasses of warm water a day, but not with meals, let the digestive juices work without being watered down. Especially avoid cold drinks. They cool and dampen you digestive acids that break down the foods. Also, avoid drinking coffee which is drying to your system and avoid sodas which are full of sugar and chemicals. Drink mineral water or filtered water if you can, or ginger tea. Along with paying attention to those things, then consider something to help the bowels, but be sure to try to correct the above items, the cause of the problem. I would suggest avoiding senna, a strong laxative herb. Some research suggests that it has damaging side effects. Cascara sagrada is safer and can be purchased at your health food store, but it's still a laxative and should be used only temporarily. A product that helps some people is to take magnesium oxide, it's cheap, & most people need magnesium. Some people start with two a couple times a day. Give it a few days to work. If that doesn't work, you could try Oxy-Powder. You can find it online by putting the words in Google. This product cleans the intestines and then provides a maintanence program. It's simply magnesium and an oxygen factor that puts oxygen into the gut activating cleansnng and peristalsis. Be careful about trying things like psyllium, it can be very drying for some people, causing a greater problem. Freshly ground flaxseeds using a coffee grinder is a better and healthier source of fiber. Add them to water or juice. And work up slowly to 3 tbs a day. Also, be sure that you are getting good fats, essential fatty acids, like flaxseed oil in liquid form, borage oil, fish oil caps, olive oil & coconut oil. Try to cut back or avoid butter, corn and safflower oils and margerines. Good fats, essential fatty acids, as they are called are needed by every cell in the body. Bad fats are damaging to health. Hope this is helpful, Best wishes, Sandy " activemom22000 wrote: I have chronic constipation and do not want to have to use laxatives all the time, help! Guest guest
Hi , The apple is an amazing fruit. Not only can it be used as a laxitive, it can also be used to stop diarrhea. Diarrhea Remedy: Grate one ripe apple. Allow the pulp to stand at room temperature for several hours until considerably darkened before eating. The oxidized pectin present in the fruit is the same basic ingredient found in Kaopectate® brand diarrhea medicine! Guest guest
What works best for me is " cascara sagrada herb " ; I buy it in powder and either take 1/4 tsp or one capsule; it works in a few hours; the fresher the better; sometimes need two if its less potent. A naturopath suggests taking it also an hour after the parasite cleanse as it helps eliminate; I tried it and I eliminated much more than with just parasite herbs. marathe_c. __________________________________________________

Guest guest
Good Day All My mother in law has suffered constipation since childhood. She tried everything possible and enemas were very necessary through much of her life. She consumed fiber of many varieties, laxitives and on and on. But, not long ago I read somewhere..maybe from on curezone that a quart of water in the morning before any food, juice, anything. And it should be consumed very soon after getting up and quickly and then wait a while before food, tea, etc. Well...she is so very happy to say that it works. She has been drinking her quart of water for almost 2 weeks not and it works everyday. She is in her early 70's and this is the best it has been for her in her whole life. Mind you she still has her fiber and eats good. She is a very happy lady. Have a very good day... Guest guest
> Here is a website with some additional information relating to > constipation. Besides low water intake the biggest cause of constipation, diarrhea, IBS, and IBD, is bowel dysbiosis, in other words the fluorish of bad bowel bacteria. It's easily cured by increasing the food for the " good " bacteria instead of the bad. A week's reading on the subject can be found (in the first link that comes up) by typing " inulin references " into the www.Google.com search box.
