Oh, the sleep... the neverending sleep problem. I'm going around the bend, I

tell you. :)

Okay, so my son is almost 4 and he's sleeping 9 - ~2, then up until about 6 when

he zonks out until about 10. I would just go with it, but I have a 1 year old

too, and he's up for the morning at 8.

For sleep, I'm giving him 3mg melatonin and 1/2 tsp of poppy/ziziphus extract.

WIthout it, he'd not fall asleep until 11:30 or midnight, and then would still

be up at 3 or 4, but miserable instead of chatty (which is to say, he's got a

vocal stim that goes full bore when he's awake - unless he's grumpy, at which

point, he just cries).

How do I keep him asleep?! Ideas?

Okay. Can do! Thanks. I wonder about yeast. He's got none showing up in the

stool tests, but it could be in the upper gi, I suppose.

You could also try timed release melatonin.

We saw improvement with enzymes. We then added melatonin too. But I would

suggest doing like humaworm and or parasite protocol if night time remains an

issue. Epson salt baths, reading, music, no screen time before bed. Also if

doing naps, cut them out.

Yeah, we're on enzymes here and epsom salts. If I give him the tea the DAN doc

suggested, he wets the bed.

What's a parasite protocol? He did have some pinworm problems, but I've treated

it fairly aggressively. What kind of protocol is there for staying on?

Thanks!

Hi

It did not work for us but some people report that mealatonin with 5htp helps to

get their kids to sleep and stay asleep, so it might be worth a try.

Hi there,

We tried everything and nothing would work for us. Melatonin, addressing yeast,

bacteria..... finally we figured out he was having seizures. Once we treated

that sleep and cognition improved.

Good luck, Casandra

Having had pin worms, I guess I would for sure do another parasite protocol. We

did Humaworm, goggle that. We did it for 30 days, my son said he felt good on

it. I think you can do it every 6 months. We are due again. I'm anxious to

see what my guy says on a second round. He's 10.

Thank you. I won't be able to use Humaworm (major phenols in there - the

peppermint alone would drive him crazy), but I can certainly get some of the

ingredients from it.

For us the sleep issues improved significantly with yeast control and amino

acids. Winter is always the worst, and now as the sun is coming back, we are

doing better again. Best of luck!

I'd echo the less melatonin idea. My son could only take about a third a mg or

he'd wake up during the night. I think it's a rebound type effect.
