There were times when I had to give my son 20mg biotin and 4 GSE tablets, all 3x per day. Your 15 drops is equivalent to approx 1 GSE tablet, so you really are not giving that much. Adding biotin allowed me to reduce the amount of GSE I was giving, and it also helped with long-term yeast control. Dana

Those drops are *gross*. There is Biotin in his B12/B6/random other stuff supplement, but I don't think it's that much. With biotin, add a liver support too, yes? I simply cannot WAIT until the province figures out the billing system and prescription management for NDs. Diflucan, here we come.
Guest guest
The caffeine in the coffee helped because it increases dopamine levels in the brain which help in focus and calm ADHD symptoms. While you're treating yeast/bacteria, GABA is a needed supplement for kids low in that neurotransmitter. It is neuro-calming and will help calm impulsivity and aid in sleep if taken before bed. He may also being having trouble with his PST (phenolic enzyme processing) and phenols may be adding to his hyperactivity and lack of sleep. Yeast produces phenols in the gut, which just add to the toxic load. Epsom Salt baths help in detoxing phenols and are calming for sleep too. Here is some info that explains it: http://healingautismandadhd.wordpress.com/diet-2/phenolssalicylates/ http://healingautismandadhd.wordpress.com/supplements/gaba/ http://healingautismandadhd.wordpress.com/2010/06/08/epsom-salts-old-wives-tale-\ or-medical-fact/ Joanne > > My 4 y.o. son's been overrun by yeast. GABA doesn't seem to do a damn thing for him. I've tried high(ish) doses, I've tried low doses. Dana thought GABA might actually make things worse. I'll try increasing the dose and starting that again. I hate that one though because the stuff in the capsules is coarse, and hard to get into a syringe for him to drink. Maybe I'll crush it with a pestle. Phenols have been a problem for sure. We give him no-fenol enzymes with any high phenol food, and epsom salt baths regularly. Last night for example, he was up all night, more or less. He didn't even fall asleep until 4:30 am and then was up by 9:30. We gave him melatonin - three times over. He had a warm bath with about 3 cups of epsom salt at 3am. I'm at my wits end with it all today. I'm trying to keep him off sugar and starch, and the little one (his little brother) I have to somehow fatten up because he's underweight and the ped is on my damn case. Guest guest
Yeast Aid, is that Kirkmans? It's a good product. We see results in 20 minutes or less but the dose is for 4 capsules. I'd give that much every time you give GSE, though I'd ask those familiar with GSE whether the ingredients in Yeast Aid would be affected by GSE or not. I know that it needs to be given away from probiotics but not sure about herbs, garlic etc. It works well for us. GSE is high phenol and sometimes NoFenol enzyme helps. Find your dose. Candex, candidiase also help especially with the high pitch. Also -- what are you doing for die off? Charcoal 1-2 hours after the GSE will help. > > My 4 y.o. son's been overrun by yeast. Unfortunately, the tablets I picked up yesterday are only 250 mcg, but there were no other choices. >> With biotin, add a liver support too, yes? > > >Not necessarily required. Does your child have liver problems? Not that i know of, but he hasn't been tested. The ND doesn't have MSP billing codes, and the MD won't test because " there's no reason " . Grrrr. So I wait until the ND is allowed to bill MSP for the tests. I was just sure I had read somewhere to be careful with Biotin because it's hard on the liver. Thanks for your help and input Dana. Guest guest
Ok here's what we use for my three kids...it works so well that when we just moved cross country and they were off the diet we barely had any negative effects. TMG is must for fighting yeast. It has made my kids so resistant to flare ups. So we use TMG,Grapeseed Extract(the drops taste good), Olive leaf extract (they actually taste good too, not like olives, but sweet), and DPP IV with Isogest. I have seen so much tremendous improvement in the yeast and tollerance to food misshaps. The prescription stuff doesn't work half as well in our experience... I'm not a non prescription person either. I love meds:)ha ha ha

Guest guest
We use Kirkman TMG. They started on 175 mg once a day for a week, then went to 175 twice a day for a month. Next week we're starting 500 mg once a day for two weeks, then up to 500 mg twice a day. The recommendation is 175-2,000 mg of TMG or 125-1,000 DMG. DMG has two methyl groups, and TMG has three. I'm not sure what this means yet because I haven't finished reading my stuff on TMG versus DMG, but somebody on here said that the DMG can be better for kids who react negatively to the TMG. My son got extremely hyper and agressive in a nonviolent way...playing rough basically. Anyways, they said if that happens you can add folinic acid to fix the problem. I was considering it for my son, but the issue went away after about a week. We use Kirkmans Enzyme Complete DPP IV with isogest. You can get it without the Isogest for about $10 cheaper...but it's working so I'm not going to change it:) They take Vitamin Shoppe brand grapeseed extract 100 mg twice a day. My littlest started out on the drops which is a lower dosage, because she couldn't swallow pills. I can't find my info for the grapeseed right now since we just moved into a new house...I believe it said 250 mg was the recommendation. I went to look it up on TACa and found this cool link http://www.talkaboutcuringautism.org/medical/supplement_help.htm I'll let you know for sure about the grapeseed ectract when I find it. They also take vitamin Shoppe brand olive leaf extract 500 mg twice daily...they started out on once daily and my daughter started on the drops since she couldn't swallow pills. The recommendation is 500-1500 mg daily. Then we take the custom probiotics autism blend, two of the tiny scoops a day. I saw absolutely no negative effects with the grape seed and olive leaf extracts. I went to fast with the probiotic and they were nauseous for a day so I slowed down. Then of course the TMG with the hyperactivity. But seriously guys...my kids were eating Mcs, pancakes, pizza and I was so upset thinking how sick they were going to get. The worst thing that happened was gas and constipation, and their yeast was up a tiny bit but quickly got back under control.
