Guest guest
Hi Jen Yeast often proliferates to fill a void. Are you giving any probiotics to re-populate the gut? Also, " destructive " at our house is bad bacteria. Good luck HELP!--I am going . I am stuck, and looking for advice from all you great moms out there... please help! jEN
Guest guest
We kept treating for yeast, and our problem turned out to be more bacterially based...clostridia to be exact. Treating so much for the yeast lets bacteria get a foothold. The aggression, running out in traffic, no stranger danger, no fear of danger at all really says bacteria to me. You can test for bacteria with Genova Diagnostics (our DAN should be familiar) but some things we've used include: Vancocin (prescription antibiotic...very strong) Olive leaf extract Sac Boulardii (pre-biotic) VSL3-DS (VERY strong probiotic). This was a prescription. Biocidin (this is expensive but was recommended to us...we didn't do this one yet) Pre and Probiotics can be hidden in smoothies. OLE is kinda stinky and might be difficult to hide. I would also suggest a brushing protocol and lots of massages and epsom salt baths. When a child gets all tensed up and aggressive like this, it becomes a bit of a vicious cycle. For my son, the supplements/medication didn't work until his body calmed down enough to handle them. Make sure your child is pooping pooping pooping. Consider magnesium or oxypowder to make sure to keep things moving out of her digestive system. Epsom salt baths can help to get the toxins you're killing with the yeast protocol too. It is HARD. We were housebound for 18 months with this sort of behavior. It takes you to the breaking point. Hang in there!! Sara
Guest guest
> This child is so defiant, nuts, impulsive and destructive again, she screams all the time, gets constant yeast infections, and is up all night long days at a time. If you think it is yeast, try increasing the GSE, maybe increase biotin. There were times when my son needed 20mg biotin 3x per day as well as 4 tablets GSE 3x per day. Sometimes my son's bad bacteria symptoms were the same as the yeast symptoms. If you think it might have migrated to bad bacteria, try dropping the GSE and add OLE or OoO. > HELP!--I am going out of my mind...This has all gone downhill massively in the last 8 weeks, What has happened that is new? Any new supps or medications you added? Or removed? Did you move to a new house, new school? Anything like this? Dana

Guest guest
There is rice and coconut yogurt if she can handle those. OAT is an Organic Acid Test. Urine Test that will tell you about yeast and bacteria issues, oxalate issues, vitamin and mineral deficiencies. Oil of Oregano. can she eat italian food? Sprinkle the capsule in tomato sauce or sloppy joes. Can also give the drops in a very strong juice (it does taste nasty) Try cranberry or Pomegranete. That might work with the walnut as well. Lauricidin may be somethig to try for yeast. Very small tablets (look like wax). Not chewable, but maybe she can swallow those. Does your daughter have sensory integration issues? SIT might help with gag reflex. Karla > > >> > > >> OKay, out of sheer desperation, I just don't know where to turn. Guest guest
You have gotten a lot of great input already, but I agree with the theory it might be bacteria that took hold after all the yeast die off. Aggressiveness, defiance, brain fog, impulsivity, constipation all were bacteria related in my house. Plus phenols can cause this reaction with my ASD son and grapefruit seed extract is phenolic. He's on TriEnza too, but anytime I give him food high in phenols, I add in a No-Phenol enzyme for extra measure, because the amount of No-Phenol in TriEnza is not enough for him. Is she allergic to corn? Most vitamin C is made from corn. My ADHD son is allergic to corn and we give him lots of Vit C, but it's Twinlabs' Allergy C, no corn. Biocidin has been wonderful for us to treat bacteria, plus S. Boulardii in the probiotic. Does she take zinc? It will help with the gut healing she needs. Can I recommend if you haven't already, get your older son into a therapy group for siblings with ASD...my 10 yr old son needed it and his little brother is high-functioning. Also, remember to give yourself a break too, with your husband...as you know, ASD is hard on marriages and siblings. Us moms work so hard and put our kids needs first, we forget to take care of ourselves. I'm guilty of it too. I wish you patience and deep breaths...this journey you and your family are on is difficult. Keep the faith! Guest guest
If there is a Whole Foods, they usually have both kinds there. Our Safeway carries the coconut yogurt (So Delicious Brand). Not a real fan of the rice yogurt, but the coconut yogurt is good. Not sure of other places. Your DAN! can order an OAT or you can order it online from Great Plains Lab, http://www.greatplainslaboratory.com/ (they may require a Docs signature now) or Direct Labs, https://www.directlabs.com/. Oil of Oregano is potent stuff. Wont work with just one dose (sorry). And as it tastes nasty on its own, putting it in a saucy food would be a good option. Dana mentions rubbing it on the feet and putting socks on. That may be a better option. Just giving you ideas. Lauricidin can be bought OTC. Found in coconut oil and has anti-viral/fungal/bacterial properties. My son doesnt have sensory issues with regard to texture, but does have auditory issues and hyposensitivity and Sensory Integration therapy has been a big help. Guest guest
I agree that it sounds like bacteria. re: bacteria Most docs agree that she needs to have a BM every day if not 2 x per day to keep bacteria moving out. Can you add more magnesium on any day that she does not have a BM? I have to ask -- any thoughts of Strep or PANDAS? for us it is that time of year, often March/April are the worst after multiple exposures at school and with many of the behaviors you describe. Can I suggest that you add strep tracking to your data collection. We track it along with full moons -- it's good to know Y or N if there is a corresponding reaction to either. > > No nothing new. Guest guest
Here is my favorite site on PANDAS: http://e-pandas.com/ You can certainly check for it...it's a blood draw, which are always difficult for us, but worth it. Ask for ASO and DNASE levels. A throat culture is not important and will not diagnose PANDAS on its own. PANDAS is cyclical, and certainly difficult behavior can be part of it, but does she have any unusual anxiety, OCD symptoms, tics, weird movements (flailing type stuff), or fear of doing something " wrong " or bad. We have found that our 's recovery is very much a roller coaster. It's not a straight path to healing. We have regressions for seeminly unknown reasons too. People use the " peeling back the onion " analogy, which has been true for us. It's multiple layers of complex biochemistry. Frustrating and maddening, but true for us. Our son has the types of behavior you describe most often with bacteria issues. Nasty, nasty clostridia. Sara > > > > > >> No nothing new. I have been emailing about this for over a year. Guest guest
Sara, I would be interested in knowing what steps you've taken towards your son's recovery of PANDAS. We recently saw Dr. K in Chicago and has diagnosed our son with PANDAS. ASO and DNASE were high back in Nov. after having strep in Sept. His behaviors are very cyclical too. He also has a tic and some OCD and anxiety issues. Dr. K wants to do a steroid burst the next time he has a major increase in symptoms. If he responds to the steroid burst, the next step would be IVIG. My son also recently had an OATs test and clostridia showed positive. What do you use for this? Thanks, Lana > > > > >> No nothing new. I have been emailing about this for over a year. Guest guest
I'm joining this thread late, but wanted to say that mag citrate does little to alleviate constipation for my DD. Magnesium oxide and Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) produces a stool or two daily. > > she is on and off with constipation--takes 1tsp of Gillhams magnesium > calm powder 3 times a day. Guest guest
I use 500 mg of ascorbic acid powder from NOW, but Vitamin Shoppe (VS)and others have powder forms as well. Or you can get veggie caps which you can open and mix in her juice. Bulk powders are more cost effective. The mag oxide I use is from VS in 160 mg veggie caps. I just ordered that in powder form as well from NOW. I give these together throughout the day until her stool reaches the right consistency. I give an extra dose when she gets something which contains calcium. > > thankyou for saying that, she takes 2 rounded tsps of the magnesium calm > daily, and it doesn't produce every day, sometimes only every 2. Guest guest
the ascorbic is tart and easily mixable in a beverage or applesauce. The magnesium oxide is best given in a syringe. It's not like the natural calm which dissolve completely. Kind of chalky and doesn't dissolve well. It doesn't have an offensive taste, just doesn't mix well with foods. > > do any of these have bitter taste? or easily mixable or dissolve.. > ----- Original Message -----
