Guest guest
The answer to this is YES!! be sure that is getting supplements of magnesium and calcium and other essential minerals, even the trace minerals, because pica is a symptom of lack of essential minerals. Get him some chewable mineral supplements. New Beginnings has a nice Cal-Mag one with orange flavor. One of the major dangers of chelation is mineral deficiency. Don't ignore this warning sign. Including a lot....2000 mg of mag and 150% of a calcium supplement that includes a lot of traces...it is called bonebuilder...and it has phosphorus which was something they were low in .....they are also getting several supplements like moly and others that I read were good to give while chelating...and a multiple...so that is why i am sooooooo confused..should i up his cal and mag sups some more? Most of what I am seeing him eat...are blood cleaners...isn't grass and clover good for that...and greens. I am not trying to be argumentitive...just really confused as I thought I was doing a pretty good job of supplementing them. Thanks Ronni
Guest guest
Ronny, We just started caEDTA suppositories and my son is more oppositional than he'd been in a while. Periodically he goes around and do all that he shouldn't. However, at the same time he has had a yeast overgrowth and going through some die off. I attribute his oppositional behavior and lack of compliance to yeast. He also drink the yucky water off the yard furniture and doesn't respond to my deterring of him. caEDTA does not deplete minerals except for zinc which he is getting additional dose. Could be a bad yeast over growth for your kids too? Haleh
Guest guest
Hi, Are you supplementing selenium? If your son is relatively high in selenium, and is iron deficient, it can trigger pica. Do not supplement iron without doing a complete blood count with differential, as well as a ferritin count and reticulocyte count, to verify an iron deficiency. Iron is toxic, and creates oxidative stress, but if you need it, you need it. It might be worth a blood test. My son had a similar experience to your daughter. He drew a line in the sand at the grocery store -- he wanted cream cheese, forget the GFCF diet -- and got very aggressive with my baby sitter, who had to call me for back-up. Since he is 14, this is a big problem. It was a manic behavior -- grandiose illusions. It turned out to be a bad reaction to inositol, which is apparently contra-indicated for people with bipolar. We didn't know he has bipolar tendencies, but we do now! (And I discovered I did too, when I took a very low dose of inositol, to see if I could figure out how it was affecting him -- I sure don't want to go through that again. I was up all night, with delusions of grand schemes re: certain sped administrators. Sounds funny, but it was really scary.) Your mileage may vary. Guest guest
, What did you do to treat the high selenium? We've drop the supplements with any in it But I'm concerned. We've only done 2 RBCs minerals and selenium has been red zone high. Hair tests in low second quartile. Is it tied up with any heavy metal? > > > > We are just finishing up round 19 this weekend and I am about ready > > to lose my mind.... > > > > I am not sure what is up with a couple of my kids....but they are > > pushing my buttons like crazy.... > > > > ,7.5 years, is driving me nuts....his pica is starting in and > > OMGosh!! Guest guest
Unless your doctor prescribed 2000 mg of magnesium for the chelation protocol, this seems like too much to me. Should not be getting more mag than calcium. Try cutting it back a little, if it is causing diarrhea especially, it might be throwing some other nutrients off. Interesting observation about the inositol...I'm going to start reading some labels as we have had a couple of nasty and very very unusual episodes with Benny lately. Peace, Kathy E. > > > > The answer to this is YES!! be sure that is getting > supplements of magnesium and > > calcium and other essential minerals, even the trace minerals, > because pica is a symptom > > of lack of essential minerals. > > > > Get him some chewable mineral supplements.
