Guest guest
Amber try Methyl B12 sublingual. Make sure it is Methylcobalomin and not Cyancobalomin. It has done great for my depression. Give it in the morning and at night give him a bit of melatonin too for his sleep. Methyl B12 is helpful in getting us out of our own world and in reducing anxiety in social interaction. Above all you guys should get out and meet other families and facilitate some friendship for yourself and your kids. Get out there and do something. I know it is really cold now but find an activity. Heated indoor swimming pool or something. Maybe talk with his school teacher to do a little surprise party and invite the kids from school or some how devote a day to him to get all the attention. My heart goes to your whole family. Having a special need child takes so much of our energies and resources. My son Keyon is also on Methyl B12 nasal spray and he has gained a lot including much ease being social. Our whole family takes it. Ask for methyl B12 also in shots or nasal spray from your DAN. He should be bringing this up himself and if he won't do, get some too. It makes kids hyper for a couple of weeks but in 4-5 weeks, you should see a cognitive boost, language or vocalization and a lot good things cognitively as well as socially. I recommend 5000 mcg per day. You can get that at good price here: www.iherb.com Best, Haleh --- kennetheriklucy <eislerfamily@...> wrote: > Our family moved to a different province last July to get help for my > asd son. Guest guest
Hi Haleh, Thank-you for the advice. I have a bottle of natural factors B12 Methylcobalamin Sublingual tablets. They are 1000 MCG each, should I give my 9 yr old nt son one of these every morning? The adult dosage on the bottle is 1 tablet daily. I am seeing my DAN! Dr. in about 2 weeks, and I am going to ask him about running tests, and about the B12 shots, or spray. Amber. On 1/31/06, haleh niazmand <halniaz@...> wrote: > > Amber try Methyl B12 sublingual. Guest guest
Hi Amber, we also moved 1,800 miles away from all family and friends last July, I can sympathize. My oldest is 11, NT and it has been hard on her also at times. I am also brand new to biomedical treatments for my 7-yr old, pdd, so much to learn - you are having to handle alot right now, I feel for you and your son. I have recently been looking for alternatives to medication for my own depression, and I keep seeing omega 3's coming up. I plan to start on one for myself soon - it may be worth trying with your son. Let us know how he is doing, I'll be thinking of all of you. Also - if anyone has used omega 3's for depression - I am looking at Nordic Naturals, but they have so many formulas. Any advice on which one to use? I have read to use one with more EPA than DHA for depression, any thoughts? Thank you > > Our family moved to a different province last July to get help for my > asd son. Guest guest
Dana, I have the B12 methylcobalamin pills, and I have kirkman B-complex pills. I started on the B12, but do you think that the B-complex would be better?? Thanks. Amber. On 2/1/06, danasview <danasview@...> wrote: > > > > > > Hi Haleh, Thank-you for the advice. Guest guest
Amber, Start With one and you can even go up to two per day if you need to. I take 5,000 mcg per day and have heard of a parent who gave her 11 year old son 10,000 mcg and reported better result than the shots. This is however true if the gut is in good order. The greatest thing about MB 12 is that is totally non-toxic even at very high dose. The spray seems to be working as well as the shots but no clinical study has confirmed this yet just people who have tried both. We have seen a lot of interest in language in my son and imitation since we started MB 12. He also loves his preschool now and even sits for circle times with other kids. I am pleased that you are going to get your DAN dr to help you. That is why he is there. Best to your children and you who seem to be a great mom. I started on the B12, but do you think that the B-complex > would be better?? Just giving B12 will generally cause depletion of the other B vitamins, especially B2. So it is best to give a multi B along with B12. For me, mB12 causes way too much yeast, I only take about 1/2 tablet and only about 2x per week. I take a multi B every day. The multi does cause yeast, but not nearly so much as mB12. Depression can be caused by deficiency in one or more of the Bs, so you might want to keep the mB12 if it is helping him, and add in the multi also. Guest guest
> The greatest thing about MB 12 is that is totally non-toxic even at very high > dose. If I gave my kids more than 2000mcg mB12 per day, they would have had major problems. They needed at most 1000mcg for one child, and 1500mcg for the other child, and giving it with folic acid was REQUIRED, otherwise they would have MAJOR problems like crying and head banging. It also caused yeast, and for me personally, I won't take more than 1000mcg mB12 [with folic acid], otherwise it causes so much yeast that my head feels about ready to explode, and I have to take LARGE quantities of GSE to eliminate the yeast. So, increase the dose slowly. Dana
