Guest guest
Does anyone have any experience with asthma associated with the use of Houston's enzymes? My sister and I (my family have sensory/n.d. issues, allergies & asthma, MCS and problems with detoxing) started the zyme prime lately and are both finding that asthma is flaring up. We do muscle testing; the enzymes test good with us, so I don't think it is a direct reaction to the enzymes themselves? Any ideas? Also, my ASD son, who is chronically ill/tired anyway, is completely " wiped out " these days. (more than usual) He already has a host of health problems related (I'm sure) to leaky gut, candida, viruses (my family tests positive to megaloviruses, etc), etc etc He's extremely sensitive to everything, so I've been very slow with the enzymes; 1/8 of a teaspoon of Zyme Prime at suppertime (evening), and occassionally I give him 1/8 tsp No Phenol (which immediately arrested the swelling and burning of his mouth when he had some fruit-impressive!) He's been getting enzymes about a week. Should I be giving him Virastop?? Or is there another one (ie from Enzymedica) that he should be getting to help die-off? Thanks for any help/suggestions... __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Hi, With my son enzymes cause severe croup , allergenic cough that leads to asthma. crystal Margaret Romanowitch <em_nautilus@...> wrote: Does anyone have any experience with asthma associated with the use of Houston's enzymes? Guest guest
I wheezed when I tried them and I get asthma when I bag the chewables, just from the dust I guess (Which is minimal). I'm very allergic to fruits which are in them and so I take my inhaler when I bag them up once a month for my sons. _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Margaret Romanowitch Sent: Tuesday, October 10, 2006 12:20 PM Subject: Re: Asthma - reaction to enzymes or die-off?? Guest guest
I had a horrible reaction like this. I am highly allergic to aspergillus, a mold. Someone on this list said that HN1 uses aspergillus as part of the enzyme process. Thankfully my son doen't have my allergies! He's still thriving on the enzymes. What are the alternatives? (barring papaya and pineapple-based enzymes) __________________________________________________

The aspergillus is purified out, and most people can then use the enzymes without problems. But for those who are highly sensitive, it might cause problems. I'm hoping that even a small amount will eventually help. Margaret __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Several months back I posted that my son had an asthma like reaction. The only thing that I had added was Nuthera - so I backed off of it and the cough went away. Think back to this past week -- anything else new -- or only the enzymes? If so, stop the enzymes and try to introduce vitamins, Omegas and minerals first. The no phenol could be hitting the yeast and it could be die off too. > Does anyone have any experience with asthma associated > with the use of Houston's enzymes? > My sister and I (my family have sensory/n.d. issues, > allergies & asthma, MCS and problems with detoxing) > started the zyme prime lately and are both finding > that asthma is flaring up. I've bought some of e-lytes minerals and got an asthma reaction by taking too many drops the first time. (ie the " normal " dose without gradually working to it). So perhaps I should work on the minerals and the enzymes together, slowly. My 18 yo son is showing no improvement so far; he's more verbally " abrasive " and tired, but I'm sure that's quite " normal " . I'm just not sure how fast to increase the dose of enzymes...or if it would help if I gave him minerals and virastop concurrently. Do you have any suggestion, Dana? BTW, your site is a wonderful source of information. Thank you! Margaret __________________________________________________

If he is not stabilized on the current doses, don't increase them yet. Consider foods he might be eating that the enzymes are not addressing. Or, additives/fillers in the enzymes. Or supplement intolerance. It can be a lot of things, unfortunately. Dana
