Guest guest
We've been trying to tackle the yeast issue and recently switched to diflucan from nystatin and the eating has gotten even worse. We should be past the die off stage and things are still bad. She is also on ACTOS, I'm wondering if the combo of ACTOS and diflucan is causing blood sugar issues. Thanks again > > > > Does anyone have any ideas on what could be causing my daughter's > > insatiable appetite? Any ideas would be appreciated! > > Thanks, > > , my 9 year old son has been like this, since the age of 18mo, when we adopted him from Russia. He was severely malnourished, and had lived through salmonella poisoning, and shigella 2x. We've been asked several times if we feed him enough, by caretakers at school an church! He has many sensory processing issues with oral sensitivity, intolerance for certain food textures, stuffing food, and choking. He is dx'd with Aspergers or Pdd-nos. I suspect his constant hunger has to do with digestive/malabsorption problems, and that his system needs to heal. We are just starting probiotics and enzymes, and noticed a ravenous increase in hunger, but expected that as a possible side effect, that should taper off, as his digestive system heals. I think from what I've read on this site, and from research, that there can be a hypoglycemic type of thing, or some type of thing with yeast, but I don't know. I have similar hypoglycemic symptoms, even though I never test as diabetic, and neither does my son. (Apparently there is research that confirms a pre-diabetic state, before diabetes is dx'd). I too, would like to know if anyone else experienced this, and has any ideas about cause or relief. Thanks, Barbara Ann
Guest guest
Hi, I've been a lurker on this list for 18 months and would like to thank all who constantly and with such generosity contribute and share their wisdom and experience. Whenever I have a question, it seems to be asked and answered just then, even though my daughter's situation is unusual in regard that we have not pursued diagnosis or done any tests, and the fact that problems started at the age of 5 when she stopped breastfeeding. (Still, after 2 year reading on this and other lists, books, websites, i could venture to say she is borderline Aspergers). She has improved tremendously as soon as we started biomed. Just probiotic made a huge difference to the quality of her life. She has been on enzymes for over a year. We started with an extremely low doze, as my daughter is extremely sensitive. We are now at 2 caps Zyme Prime, 1/2 AFP Peptyzide (had to reduce from 1 caps. few months back as she suddenly got very hyper), 1/2 No-Phenol at every meal or more when high-phenol foods consumed. And this definitely helps her digest foods because she is gaining weight, as before she would stay at the same for years. We don't do GFCF though as she didn't show any difference in behavior when we tried. She has also been on CLO with on and off high Vit. A (5.000 ui) and Magnesium EAP2 (elemental with high absorption rate as she seemed very deficient to begin with). And here is my question. About 10 days ago unexpectedly my CLO had gone cloudy. I didn't order any other, because I'm toying with the idea to put her on EPO that I had never done before, or get Blue Ice CLO (the only one - apart from St. Clement CLO we were using recently - that didn't give us problems). So I stopped it, and had to stop Vit. A (Klaire's micellized in drops) too. At the same time I started her on different Magnesium, as my Magnesium ran out. I got Mg Taurine (read lots of praise about Mg chloride and in attempt to address possible amino acid deficiencies). And since then she has got an enormous appetite. It's shocking to see this, as I have never seen or heard about a child who needed more coaxing to eat ANYTHING. Plus, extremely fussy and self- limiting eater. and in the last week or so, she asks for food constantly, and even more so towards the evening. If this were parasites, how do I find out? And does anyone know of natural way to get read of them? if this is not worms, could there be a connection with the supplements routine change? she is also on very low dosage of 5HTP (for anxiety and nightmares) Perhaps the other ingredients; vit.B6, biotin zinc and folic acid, have something to do with the appetite? but she has been on them for some months. And she also takes tiny amount of Liver (dried org. lambs liver). Thanks again, and sorry for this long mail, kind regards, Ola Gasson

Is she eating a LOT, or do you have to coax her to eat? Is she self-limiting now, or before? >> and in the last week or so, she asks for food constantly, and > even more so towards the evening. For my son, eating a LOT meant he was eating something he did not tolerate [food or supplement] or he had a yeast overgrowth issue. >> If this were parasites, how do I > find out? And does anyone know of natural way to get read of them? Black walnut works to eliminate parasites. > if this is not worms, could there be a connection with the > supplements routine change? Yes. Especially if she is not tolerating the new supplements, or if they are causing yeast overgrowth. First, try increasing her probiotics, see if that helps. If so, then it was probably yeast. If not, she might not tolerate the new things added. Or, she might still require something that you removed. Dana

Yes, she has always been self-limiting, needed constant coaxing to eat anything, and had been very orally defensive. And in the last ten days, since taking her off CLO and high vit. A, she seems constantly hungry and for her, she eats a lot. She accepts vegetables, or home-made chicken bone broth, and even shows a degree of curiosity to try new foods such as beetroot crisps. Also, i should have mentioned that after she has some food, she asks for more and more. I suspect her yeast has increased, as I've read that some forms of the Magnesium increase yeast, especially if there is a mineral imbalance, or luck of other nutrients such as amino acids. I'm considering (reading up on it) to add manganese, selenium and others once I sort out the routine supplements. > > For my son, eating a LOT meant he was eating something he did not > tolerate [food or supplement] or he had a yeast overgrowth issue. My daughter seems to tolerate most foods with the enzymes. That is, we don't see any drastic changes in her behaviour and in her BM or skin. She used to suffer from severe constipation, and now she has BM daily with no pain. She does seem to react to supplements. for example CLO worked well only with enzymes, and she has never tolerated any multivitamines with B's (she would get extremely hyper). So yes, it again looks like yeast! > > Black walnut works to eliminate parasites. Thanks for this! i will have to brace myself to try this soon > >> if this is not worms, could there be a connection with the >> supplements routine change? > > Yes. I've just got Blue Ice CLO so will start her on it, from a very tiny doze, but first I am going to increase Bio-Kult and wait for result. Probably, once all this is established, i will go back to MgEAP2 and include it in the morning routine keeping the other for the evening. She had never had the typical dark circles under her eyes, but instead, she has always had the half-moon shaped, purple shades under her eyes. I suppose I keep fooling myself that it couldn't be yeast, but now it looks like it could well be it. thank you for taking time to answer my questions, kind regards, Ola and dd 6 and 3/4 years old (in UK, London)

A, she seems constantly hungry and for her, she eats a lot. For my son, constant hunger meant he was eating something he did not tolerate, or he had a yeast overgrowth issue. However, if you gave her vitamin A for a while, and then removing it caused improvements in her eating and " pickiness " , I would take that as a good sign. > Also, i should have mentioned that after she has some food, she asks > for more and more. B vitamin intolerance is common for kids who are phenol intolerant, as well as the fact that they tend to increase yeast http://www.danasview.net/phenol.htm http://www.danasview.net/yeast.htm Dana
Guest guest
" Sometimes this problem is hypoglycemia. But it could also be, for example, a thyroid or pancreatic problem, parasites, an emotional or nutritional problem, or even an allergy.... At times this intense food craving is due to a food sensitivity. Surprisingly it can even be due to a mold allergy. " --Doris Rapp, M.D., " Is This Your Child? " The above passage jumped off the page the other day as I was flipping through this book. My nearly 5-year-old son will eat anything, anytime - - and he's allergic to mold. Something to consider.... -Ann > > Does anyone have any ideas on what could be causing my daughter's > insatiable appetite?
