Figuring out why my son doesn't react well to Houston's Enzymes...

Hi all, I've got lots of responses as to why my son seems to be

really " fitty " and has bad poops on Houston's. I thank you all for

your support and help!! From all of the responses, and from knowing

my son, what we've tried, what foods he eats, etc., I just feel that

the enzymes seem to do their job, but that he reacts to something in

them. Searching past posts, I realized it most likely is the

Aspergillus. I copied this from a previous post, " The citric acid

might also be made using a fermentation process with Aspergillus. " It

was talking about an allergy to citric acid. All 5 of my children

have an allergy to citric acid which I've know since my oldest were

babies. It MUST be the aspergillus!! Also, the NO Fenol doesn't seem

to be the problem, but the other 2 are. Does anyone have any

suggestions for enzymes then? I think Caleb would be okay with a

pineapple or papaya derived enzyme since he tolerates both of these

fruits well. He really needs an enzyme since we saw some new good

things on Houston's but the benefits just didn't override the constant

fits. Caleb would often just go lay down in bed because he couldn't

stand himself!! Does Kirkman's or enzymedica have aspergillus? I'd

Kirkman has an enzyme called Carb Digest with Isodase that we are using. You

may want to call the company ask exactly what is in it.

Sorry it has taken me so long to get to that post. Is he taking the chewables?

If so the

citric acid in the chewables might be the problem and you could give the powder

from the

capsules....although I did have the citric acid problem, I didn't have a problem

with the

capsule enzymes from Houstons.

I tried Wobenzyme I think from enzymedica and they gave me severe joint pain

which is

my usual Aspergillus symptom.

What were the specific symptoms of his reaction to Aspergillus? My daughter

seems to be having a problem with the Bromelain in some of the enzymes. Which

enzymes do not have it, I don't know. I hope she doesn't react to Asperilligus

too..... We're just starting some supplements. Sorry for butting in here. Just

want to learn more so we can figure things out too. Jenn L

My kids did not tolerate citric acid because most commercial citric

acid is made from corn, and they did not tolerate corn until the very

end of ALA chelation.

With my son, it was like the enzymes were working (his belly was

less bloated looking, he was so hungry every minute, he stopped

needing his epsom salt baths so often, etc), but his poops kept

staying so smelly and mushy (just like it happens when he has a food

infraction). Also, the reason I finally took him off (the straw

that broke the camel's back) was that each day he kept escalating

his fit episodes to where even he couldn't stand it himself. Every

little thing caused him a major whine session, and he's never like

that even when yeast is a problem. Once I took him off of the

enzymes, it took a few days to finally de-escalate back to normal.

He's needing his epsom baths to help digest food again, but he's his

happy little self again Several people asked if it could be

another food causing an intolerance or possibly still a " die-off "

reaction, but I must say no to both. He'd been on the enzymes for 6

weeks or so, and we went through the normal die-off reaction phase,

after that things were okay for about 2 weeks, and then he started

to go down hill on them. This is similar to his reaction to citric

acid or milk. It's like it takes a while to build up in his system,

and then we have a big problem. Also, we had not tried new foods,

but were staying with what I know he tolerates. I'm hoping to try

the bromelain or papain type of enzymes with no aspergillus. Any

suggestions?
