Guest guest
Listmates, My daughter is 5 years old and weighs about 36LBS. This is the first time I'm chelating her, so this is new to me. My daughter canno't tolerate sulpher chelators, so I went with a chelator called NDF Plus. Initially she made good gains in language, attention/focus and coping skills; however, pretty early on she started having irregular bowel movements and was only pooping every 3-5 days. After this, she went through a regression and I stopped giving her 4 drops and backed down to one drop. I took her to the ER and the doctor did an X-Ray and also examined my daughter and determined she was not impacted? I'm not sure if she's been suffering from constipation, or if she's not pooping every day because she doesn't eat as much as other children and also because she eats lots of proteins and not many carbs? My daughter has lost all the initial gains she's made from the chelator and also lost the gains she's made 5 months ago when we started her on the GF/CF/SF diet. She is very verbally stimmy, her language has resorted to mostly movie talk (Caillou wants a hotdog), her attention/focus and eye contact are also very poor and she just seems checked out!!!! I have her fecal metal test and it shows she is pulling one thing in the red, and lots of other things in the high green and lots in the yellow. Lead was in the yellow and mercury was 1/4 way across green. She probably has redistribution since she's was not going to the bathroom daily and pulled so many metals. The regression has been for about 1 month and has not lifted!!! Should I give her activated charcoal to see if it helps? I just stopped the one drop I was giving her yesterday, but she has been regressed for 1 month? What CAN I do to pull her through the regression. She started chelating w/ NDF Plus at the end of June. Thanks, PAt Thanks, PAt
Guest guest
For the constipation, I tried everythign under the sun. THEN I tried milk of magnesia one tablespoon, 2 days in a row. Which worked--my son pooped 4 big poops in 30 hours. I can't remember why I didn't try it to begin with so there might be a good reason. But it seems to be GFCF. I don't know if that will help given the clear Xray. This is everyone's nightmare I hope it's a case of she is temporarily getting worse before she gets much better. Supposedly poop is also made up of bacterial stuff. _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of curealexis001 Sent: Friday, July 28, 2006 4:40 PM Subject: [ ] URGENT + need help with regression...PLEASE!!! Guest guest
Pat, How did you determine that she can't tolerate sulfur chelators? Please read the archives of this list for why NDF is a bad idea. How many mercury amalgam dental fillings does your daughter have? What supplements is/was she on? When was her most recent vaccine? Guest guest
This sounds like yeast. My son cannot poop during chelation unless we are treating yeast, and he will get stimmy, fussy and all that when he doesn't go. Is she on probiotics, and yeast protocol like Grapefruit seed extract? It sounds like you got redistribution. You may need to see about using another chelator or treating the yeast and attempting to do the NDF again. Usually we maintain yeast treatment by starting a day or two before the chelator and continuing until a day or two after we finish a round. And don't be afraid to give some senna or whatever to make her poop everyday while on a round. It is really important that she go. Activated charcoal will soak up yeast die off when you add yeast protocol, however do not give it at the same time as yeast treatment, or probiotics or the chelator. If treating the yeast doesn't help, you may want to try a different chelation protocol. I am not sure if NDF removes metals from the brain. > > Listmates, > My daughter is 5 years old and weighs about 36LBS. This is the first > time I'm chelating her, so this is new to me. Guest guest
, what file is it that states the problems with NDF? We are also on it and I'd like to read this. Guest guest
Pat, I regressed with NDF and so did a close friend of mine. I felt what it was like. I would not use NDF ever again. The regression can be resolved with proper chelation. The first thing to do is to start the basic supplements that Andy recommends. See the files section here for the supplement file. Adequate vitamin C and Mg should resolve the constipation (if that is a problem). It could be that she has lost her appetite. What led you to believe that your daughter doesn't tolerate sulfur chelators? The most common problem is that people use way too large a dose of chelator at first. What I have found from my own experience of chelating myself is that there is a very narrow window of dose that is appropriate for the individual. If a person picks a dose that is too high it might 'appear' that they are not tolerating the chelator when in fact the dose is just too high and it is moving too many metals at once. Dropping the dose corrects the problem. For me, I had intolerable symptoms at 25 mg DMPS or 25 mg DMSA per dose. I had manageable symptoms at 18 mg per dose, and no symptoms at all at 12.5 mg per dose. I have tested this on myself several times and the exact same symptoms are reproducible every time. I can only tolerate 5 mg ALA per dose. I have read posts from several adults in chelation groups who can only tolerate 5 mg ALA per dose and some even less. The amount of chelator that a person can tolerate is very much an individual thing. Very sensitive individuals (like me) find that they have to go even lower than Andy's recommended range of 1/8 to 1/2 mg per pound to start. As chelation progresses and some metals are cleared the dose can be increased slightly, only if tolerated. There are suggestions in Andy Cutler's 'Amalgam Illness' book about what to do in the case of an adverse reaction to improper chelation. Many of the things there are things he has talked about on this list - eliminate sulfur foods, lots of vitamin C, E, Mg, appropriate supplementation. I'm just going on memory here. It would be better to read the section of his book. The book is really a must have as a reference for anyone chelating. J > > Listmates, > My daughter is 5 years old and weighs about 36LBS. If in fact it is pulling metals, it will probably cause a yeast overgrowth issue. And yeast can cause constipation. Try increasing your yeast protocol, see if that helps.
