Guest guest
This is very interesting because my son is on Diflucan. He's 14 and weighs about 112 pounds. The doctor only prescribed 1 ML twice a day for him. After reading your posts, this doesn't sound nearly enough to be effective. He's also been very aggressive at home lately with his little brother and me. (He's not this way at school at all or with anyone else. In fact, his teachers are telling me how wonderfully he is doing at school this year.) Does anyone have any suggestions why or what to do about the aggression? (He's normally the sweetest kid in the world and only flares his temper for specific reasons. Lately he's just trying to provoke all the time.) Any help is appreciated!!! Guest guest
Thanks for your reply . How long do you give it to him? <pegapud@...> wrote: We are on 4ml once a day for my 27 lb son. So that actually sounds about right for your son. Results seem to vary widely on Diflucan. For us it has been great. Works even a little better than GSE, and no side effects that I can determine. Even his mood has stabilized. We are very happy with it. And yes I questioned the once-a-day Rx as well, but it seems to work. Try giving on a somewhat empty stomach, that sometimes increases effectiveness. > > Hi There, > > Can someone please offer some advice. Guest guest
Check the suspension, how many mg/ml does it say? Mine is 40 mg/ml. Otherwise I'm not sure on this, that does seem pretty low. My ds is very aggressive and short-fused almost all the time, and I've been told it can be lots of things (bacteria, yeast, testosterone, among other things). I've noticed that this has improved a good bit on Diflucan so the yeast may be playing some part. But I've also read that Diflucan has testosterone-lowering qualities. > > This is very interesting because my son is on Diflucan. He's 14 and weighs > about 112 pounds. Guest guest
First we did a two week trial, but the yeast jumped right back on board afterwards. So basically we are on Diflucan for the foreseeable future. My doc's ASD kiddo was on it for a year with no problems, it is usually pretty safe. But we'll be checking liver/kidney/CBC every couple months anyway, with all the interventions we're doing! We are on 4ml once a day for my 27 lb son. So that actually sounds > about right for your son. Results seem to vary widely on Diflucan. > For us it has been great. Guest guest
Dana, Do you have more info on the EFAs and Mitochondrial issues? I'm not sure what that is. (I appreciate your input!!) Thank you! Carla > > This is very interesting because my son is on Diflucan. He's 14 and weighs > about 112 pounds. Guest guest
It says it's 50 mg in 1 mL and it is the compounded liquid because he won't swallow pills. He was taking this twice a day for about three weeks. Now we're out and I'm trying to get a stool sample so we can run a test to see if he still has yeast. I'm assuming he still will because I don't think that was long enough...but I don't know?? I guess we'll see. Carla In a message dated 11/8/2006 7:00:59 P.M. Do you know how many mg's are in each dose? When I have been prescribed Diflucan it usually comes in either a 100mg or 150 mg. pill. When my kids have taken it compounded into liquid they were taking 5mL, which was 50 mg. Again, it depends on the concentration. What does the label say?
