Hello all,

My 9 year-old son, Shafi, who has CAPD, ADHD (asperger'sish),

depression etc, was just screened at his school and has developed

20/50 vision in his right eye. I *think* they screen every year, so

this was a recent development. Now I need to find a good

developmental optometrist,ugh!

Is it unusual to have a problem in only one eye, and does it have

something to with mercury and optic nerves. I vaguely remember

something about that, and have checked onibasu. Something about the

third cranial nerve running the eye muscles (by Andy).

Binstock mentioned that varicella can also cause this (he had the

shot). I've been giving Shafi CLO every day [every other week,

divorce long story] for almost a year now, and I certainly didn't

expect this. This post mentions that too much vitamin A (possibly

from the CLO) can cause an increase in intracranial pressure

http://onibasu.com/archives/am/112990.html?highlight=optic%20nerve. OK

and this one is talking about a brain tumor

http://onibasu.com/archives/am/100926.html?highlight=optic%20nerve (I

know...)

He's had 4 TD-DMSA rounds (every 4 hours, under Dr. Megson), and I'm

wondering if redistribution is impacting his eyes now?

Can anyone help me decipher this, I'd sure appreciate it. I used to

be competent, but that was a long time ago. :-) Is it in Andy's book?

I bought it, but wish I had an electronic version so I could search it.

Finally anyone know of any great DOs in the DC Metro area?

Thanks everyone,

Ghina

My son is far sighted in his right eye. He wore a contact for a while, but

now we've stopped the vision therapy until this summer. He told us after a

time that his prism glasses were the wrong prescription because his eyes

were improving. Ditto on the contact. We have to drive four hours to see

the doc so we had to let it go after several years of effort. You can't

juggle all the balls all the time! :-(
