Guest guest
Zinc deficiency? I think I have read that before. Anne > > I am about to start searching the web but wanted to see what you all thought. I was cutting my son's nails this morning and realized his nails were practically striped. The lines go from the nailbed to the tips. I know this means something but I am not sure what. I can't believe I didn't notice them before. And he is my NT kid. I immediately checked my ASD son and his are the same, and so are mine. > > Anyone know what this is? > > Thanks so much! > > > __________________________________________________ >
Guest guest
, I know that when they looked at my son's nails, they were looking for white spots. Typically I believe they are horizontal ones.... this can mean a zinc deficiency. Are you doing mB12 injections? MB12 does deplete several vitamin/mineral: magnesium, zinc, selenium, B2, B3, B6, Vit C, Vit E and it also bypasses a biochem pathway... this is why you need to supplement either folinic or folic acid. Just a thought! Jackie--- ----- Original Message ----- >I am about to start searching the web but wanted to see what you all >thought. Guest guest
you often read that this is a zinc deficiency problem, but zinc directly displaces mercury from compounds it is bound too. I have seen nails improve and moons come back after successfully chelating mercury. Until my burden of mercury got lower I could not take zinc, and if I did something like take zinc with probiotics I would get burning all over my body and skin from methylizing it. For some digestive enzymes will improve these very quick. Personally if I take liquid silica and a drop of lugols iodine every day my skin and nails improve rapidly. _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of lvchefmel Sent: Monday, February 06, 2006 11:24 AM Autism Mercury Group; Enzymes and Autism Group; Homeopathy Autism Group Group Subject: [ ] OT again, sorry. Guest guest
I am not positive of an answer but I do understand your concern. I'm hoping you have the answer by now. I have an autoimmune condition and had to take a drug that is also used as chemo for leukemia. (lower dose) It made my nails look like what you described. It is not a fungus or disease which so many website searches lead me to. I was told that it had something to do with the immune system, I don't know if it's correct, but maybe it is because that was the puirpose of the drug I was taking, to Lower my immune system... There's also a little boy that we know that had the same exact lines, his father actually is who told me not to get nervous if my nails changed as he took the same drug. I would look into a vitamin deficiency or something on those lines, perhaps there's something missing or not being absorbed right? hth, Carol Re: [ ] OT again, sorry. Guest guest
Ridges in the nail usually indicate zinc deficiency - so at least that's an easy one to supplement!! (I use Brainchild liquid for my daughter and take it myself as well. I think their Vits and mins generally taste horrible but the zinc is tasteless except for the lemon as long as you are deficient). Guest guest
Thanks so everyone!!! I really appreciate all responses. I think the zinc and calcium deficiency theory is most likely. We aren't doing b-12 shots but will keep that info tucked away, thanks! The metal poisoning would make sense with me and my ASD son but not so much with my other son and actually after looking at my daughter, she has them as well. Neither of the two of them have been vaccinated and my daughter wasn't even a Rhogam baby like my boys were. They very well have extra metals but shouldn't be at toxic levels. I did do some muscle testing and came back with each of us needing both of those in varying degrees. We are obviously not getting everything we need. Interesting since one son drinks oj with calcium and my daughter still gets some formula though mostly rice milk with calcium powder in it now. I think we will try extras of those for awhile/really look at our recent diets and see if it gets better. Thanks to all! It just freaked me out to see that! According to one book I have: White bands can indicate protein deficiency. Black bands can indicate early melanoma. Ridges and dark nails can indicate B vitamin deficiency or iron deficiency. Guest guest
> > Hi Dana! > > The lines are really more like ridges, I guess. There is no color change, just what appears to be lines running from the cuticle to the tip. They are more pronounced on the kids than on my husband and I. Several people on two message boards posted links to answer your question. I uploaded them to my site last night [there are three], near the bottom of this section http://www.danasview.net/parent3.htm#general >>I really didn't think our diets were that bad, especially my 17 mo old. My kids had a relatively good diet, but they were still horribly deficient in several nutrients because their guts were not absorbing the nutrients from the food.
