Important Workshops

Dear Parents and Friends, Right-click here to download pictures. To help

Spring is in the air and the kids may be off school enjoying Spring Break.

But we here at the Association for Special Children and Families (ASCF) are

hard at work finding ways to help you secure an appropriate education for

the child with special needs to be successful.

We are offering you valuable workshops at no cost that will help parents

advocate for their child and for others to understand what the special

education process involves.

On Tuesday April 13 at 7 PM we will host Inclusion and the Least Restrictive

Environment which gives an overview of the IEP process and stresses the

value of inclusion, presented by SPAN.

On Wednesday, April 14, at 7 PM we will have Transition, Basic Information

that will help you understand what must be included in the student's IEP.

On Tuesday, April 20 at 10 AM we will offer Preparing a Binder of Your

Child's Records. Learn how to organize all those reports and paperwork to

be prepared for meetings.

All workshops are held at Hillcrest Community Center, (Room 18), 1810

Macopin Road in West Milford. Please call 973-728-8744 or email us at

ASCFamily@... to register.

Professional Development Credits will be awarded.

explanation is an

attempt to provide clarification when developing a student's IEP. It is

hoped that this will help

parents understand and optimize some of the transition requirements that

must be included in

students' IEPs.
