Guest guest
Hi!! I know the original poster is from Canada and I know things are a bit different up there. I wasn't hurt but I was stunned with the overall blanket statement. I hope that I didn't offend anyone with my comments but it hit kind of hard. I would like to know about those in other countries who are on the list, about their school lunches. What are the differences between there and the states and Canada. MISSY SAHM to some special kids!!! Excuse Me While I Go Raise Tomorrow's Future. Guest guest
Very true. We were on WIC. Early enlisted persons make waay below poverty level. I can remember some really hard times not too far back. Of course I grew up poor so I guess it wasn't such a shock for myself. It's still sad. Pay for military is going up slowly, but surely. It's better atleast or so I hear. I am no longer a dependent...hate that word! a Most enlisted members families are not only getting free/reduced lunches but ar also on WIC and many are on foodstamps. Very sad. Guest guest
a, It is going up too slowly. It would be nice to see 40,000/yr but I doubt that will every happen. I hear people complaining all the time because they can't make it on 75K a year. They need to see what it's like for the military. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind military life, I just wish the soldiers would get paid what their jobs are worth. MISSY SAHM to some special kids!!! Excuse Me While I Go Raise Tomorrow's Future. Guest guest
It is interesting to see different sides, isn't it? I love hearing about other places and cultures. And I don't think anyone is offended. We all react strongly to certain things. a > > > I had to go search for the original message to this thread. Guest guest
I love hearing about other people and cultures as well. I think we can all appreciate each other a bit more. Guest guest
It is very hard for a normal sized family to live on less than 40k. So many people are underpaid, but w/ the military you have made alot of sacrifices already. There's war. And lot's of separation. Not to mention many loong hours. No such thing as a 40 hr work week as you know. My dh's first job out was almost 10k more than he made in the Navy. Yet bring home was the same. Medical ate up a huge chunk. It was disappointing too. However I like knowing he won't be gone for months at a time. I prefer civilian life. Although there is much pride in being able to serve your country. And it is sad we don't do more to recognise these people. a > a, It is going up too slowly. It would be nice to see 40,000/yr but I > doubt that will every happen. Guest guest
That's actually a nice program to have, I think. Especially for the little ones. They don't hold a lot at once anyway. I think Reece would probably eat something when it was done in a group format as opposed to here at home. Roxanna > I don'tlike eating breakfast either Roxanna.
