Guest guest
My son , (3 1/2 as) has big obsessions with most kinds of 'mechanical' items. So far these have included fans, plug sockets, light switches, plumbing, toilets, cars - mainly the interior switches, electricity and sewerage plants. He can literally talk about electricity or sewerage for a good 45mins at a time !!! quite something for one so young. He sat and watched a full hour documentary the other day about some people building hot air balloons and asked his dad if they could go and build one 'right now' when it was finished. I laughed because I bet if we'd had the equipment he would probably have managed it! It is also not uncommon to find him dismantling things so 'see how they work'. The favourite things to take apart are remote control units for the tv/video, small handheld fans like you would take to the beach and mechanical toys. It's a pity that at the moment he is too small to get them working again once he's finished ! lol
Guest guest
Thankyou Roxanna Yes the whole Pre K experience was bad, It went great for the first 6 months, If Josh wasn't at school he was pretending he was at school when he was at home. Then in January his preschool teacher takes me in the office and tells me he cant comprehend, asked me " don't you ever do any thing with him'' I stay home with him, and take him everywhere with me. she was quite harsh. This was a private preschool and I can only assume she wanted just the easiest kids in her classroom. thanyou for your in put Ingrid Re: ( ) Does anyone elses kids do this? It's always a " discipline " problem when they can't figure out what to do. Roxanna ôô What doesn't kill us Makes us really mean.

That was the natural progression and nobody had been turned down before in his EI group. He was turned down because smart kids don't have special needs. The OT told us that the only reason he had fine motor delays was because we didn't enroll him in Nursery School. That same woman now says he is severely delayed and needs at least 3 hours a week OT. , Mom to , reflux, hiatal hernia, compacted bowels, asthma, global hypotonia, motor dyspraxia, SID, Asperger's

If she knew much of anythinbg she'd know that most kids learn to comprehend regardless of environment. Therefore warning bells go off when kids like mine do not! It's NOTHING I've done or haven't done. aRGH pAULA

The very first thing that Danny ever noticed besides me was the ceiling fan. At only a few months old he would stare and stare at it and then look at me. I thought he was the most brilliant child and trying to communicate. So we had this thing(about 9 months old) where I would swirl my finger like the fan and tell him about the fan. Then if I said " fan " he would swirl his finger. I thought it was brilliance--little did I know it was a sign of things to come.
