I will keep my fingers crossed for you! Now I have to tell you something that you don't want to hear. Yes, you are focusing on the numbers too much. What will being a size 6 do for you that a size 8 won't do? Really think about that. I know how hard it is not to focus on the numbers, believe me I do!! I don't know how to stop that behavior, but I do know that it is a very long process that starts with loving and accepting yourself. You are 5'7 and 150 lbs? That is my goal! I definitely think that weight is muscle and that is awesome! You said you don't look like you weight " that much " which is even more proof that it IS muscle. (Muscle weights more than fat but takes up less space) I think you should be proud!! I am so sorry that you are sick and feeling down! Rest and take care of yourself. As soon as you feel better you can get back into your Tae-Bo. It's not going anywhere, those tapes will be right there waiting for you to get better! I know that I am focusing on the #'s too much, but I can't seem to help it. My body image is very bad, actually it always has been. Luckily I never had an eating disorder (I think because I like to eat too much & hate throwing up) but I always feel fat. When I'm working out I feel really good but when I'm not I feel horrible. I think my main problem is the fact that my stomach is big (you can pinch alot at my waist and I have the stomach pouch thing happening), If I could tone that part I would feel much better about myself but it seems like it is my most stubborn part !!! I guess I'll just have to exercise more and cut out the junk food I love so much, it's the only way to do it. Thank you for your honestly, your words really do help !! It certainly wouldn't hurt to get back to healthy eating and to taebo regularly, but do it for your health and for the inside results, not for the dress size. You'll be a lot happier with yourself because then your happiness won't be dependent on things that you really can't control (like weight and dress size), but on your hard work, something you can be proud of. Guest guest
Pam, What's so magical about the Size Six and the weight of 130 pounds? They are just numbers. Size 9 at 5'7 " sounds great to me! Take a look in the mirror...what do you see? Try focusing on making two healthy food changes from what you normally do each day...such as drink water instead of Coke. Eat a whole grain instead of white bread. Stuff along those lines. Make gradual changes. I know this can be hard...we tend to distort our views of ourselves. But give these (or your own modification...whatever will work for you) a try. If you can't handle the scale thing, step on it backwards at the doc's office and be emphatic you don't want to know the cursed number. ;-) pamela189-@... wrote: original article:tae-bo_on/?start=13891 > Hi everyone, I just wanted to vent. Guest guest
It's the pamper issue... I'd rather buy handmade salts and other goodies to pamper myself than the cheap stuff because I know it's made with natural and quality good stuff Cheers! Amy K www.torchbynight.com A little discouraged I am a candle maker and have just gotten into the B & B stuff. Currently I make M & P and have made some cute soaps. I was thinking of making bath salts but I was just in Wal-Mart and saw a HUGE container of it for less than $3.00. I got to thinking, why would someone buy this from me when they can get it real cheap? I alway check out the candles wherever I go and I know I can make them better and ones that smell better. And my customers know this as well and don't mind paying more than dollar store prices. But how do you get people to buy " YOUR " products when they think they can get them cheaper at the store down the street?
Guest guest
For the same reason as people buy your candles they will buy your salts. They will know that most bath salts they buy from the local Wal-Mart are of lower quality than what you sell....and how will they know YOU WILL TELL THEM. You don't have to bash the Wal-Mart brand but you can answer questions, give handouts on your products that people can read. Explain that when they want bath salts they should make sure the ingredients state " Sea Salt " and not " Sodium Chloride " which is plain table salt. Sodium Chloride will give no real benefits from what I have read. You can use natural colors which people like, and essential oils instead of fragrance oils so that people can get a aromatherapy benefit as well. Explain all this to them, and they will buy and keep buying. Because what you are selling them is better than the rest. Research all your products this way to explain to your customers why you add each ingredient you add. What it does for them and the benefits of that ingredient. I don't sell what I make, I give it all away to friends. BUT I just love when somebody says " why did you add this, or what is this for " . It keeps me on my toes, and keeps me learning and retaining the information I read about. -Trin > I am a candle maker and have just gotten into the B & B stuff. > Currently I make M & P and have made some cute soaps. Guest guest
Sodium chloride is also the INCI name for dendritic salt (at least in Europe) which many people use in bath salts to help retain the fragrance of EO or FO. Tricia Explain that when they want bath salts they should make sure the ingredients state " Sea Salt " and not " Sodium Chloride " which is plain table salt. Guest guest
julia, i do not say much. i have been here for awhile. what i will say to you, i would much rather buy a product that i know what's in it. who knows what the vendor has stretched their product with to make it cheaper for walmart. from personal experience, walmart, though we as customers love them for their prices, are extremely brutal to their vendors. downright criminal sometimes.. your bath salts are made with pure stuff. they are put together with great care, and in a cleaner environment that anything you can buy in the store. a good place to read about manufacturers and their practices, is consumer reports. you need a very strong stomach sometimes. your products are natural and there are no strange additives.. and i am sure you can say that your products have not had rats or mice running all over them when everyone goes home, and the lights go out. hopefully you haven't handled them with a runny nose..or poopy hands, etc. need i say more? lol. so be not discouraged! make the products you are proud of, and been given the inspiration to make!!! fear squahses creativity.. anne
Guest guest
I have seen the salts there, and I have to say that I have used them. I use them to see what they are like and well I don't see much there. They use very little sea salt (well the ones I have seen) and then like some one else said table salt lol I use a mixture of three different salt E/o and F/o either or and all natural colorants. When I let my customers know this they have no problem with buying my salts and come back for more. I hope this helps. www.serenity-garden.org
Guest guest
, Don't be descouraged. Its getting close to christmas an alot of things are coming out nice and cheep, Im sure alot of people are going to get a big jar of salt from wallmart, Then again alot of people will get their salts from the body shop. If getting things cheeper was all that people cared about, Sears and macys would be out of business but they still manage to boom. You offer what other companys can't and or don't PERSONAL TOUCH!! and QUALITY. Your customers know that from your candle products. Chances are if they enjoy bathsalts or wish to gift someone with them. Yours will be prefered over a walmart brand hands down. www.smeils.com/infocenter > > > > I am a candle maker and have just gotten into the B & B stuff. > > Currently I make M & P and have made some cute soaps. Guest guest
Just like you won't sell a candle to the person who only buys the cheapest, you won't sell them bath salts, either. You need to figure out who YOUR customers are. The ones who appreciate quality items with a personal touch and lovely fragrances, and who are willing to pay for it. There are all different niche layers and you just have to identify where you fit in. You're not Wal-Mart, but neither are you Lancome. Figure out where in the middle you want to be, and then make products for THAT customer. Guest guest
Kathy, I wouldn't consider this a true challenge = results just because of recent viral illness. The new food may have had some part but it just isn't clear. Another thing to keep in mind that if he was been wanting the cereal (or hearing you say no to it for awhile), just having a new food can be stimulating emotionally. Positive change is still change. Wait until he is clearly over the cold or whatever it is. Then pick a non-swimming lesson day and challenge with the food. That will give you a better idea if it is just food or not. And if it doesn't work out after 3-4 challenges, then you probably need to wait on that food. With carb foods, try to make sure that he gets some source of protein with it just to guard against any hypoglycemic reaction. For example, if my son were eating eggs for breakfast and then I gave him just plain cheerios one morning with no protein, he could have a drop in blood sugar mid-morning resulting in a headache and fussiness, which would have happened whether the carb was cheerios, rice bread, or plain fruit. . Guest guest
Hi Kathy, my son is able to eat many more foods with the AFP Peptizyde and NoFenol but if he has artificial colors/preservatives he often has extreme meltdowns, aggression, crying jags and headaches. I've never narrowed down which additives cause the most damage, there often seems to be a cumulative effect but other times just one exposure causes major problems. So you might try a " natural " brand of cheerios without preservatives, I know there is one at Whole Foods Market that NT daughter loves. --Lynne
