Awesome to know. I'll be in Los Gatos tomorrow, and if they don't have

it I might scoot up to Cupertino. I probably won't drink it, but I

know someone back in Chico who will love it.

at the Cupertino Whole Foods. It's only $7.99 for 6 bottles and it

tastes pretty good! I'm from Wisconsin and " sampled " quite a few

beers in my college days, and this one stands up very well to any

regular beer. Cheers!

Sebastopol Whole Foods hasn't heard of GF beer.

I'm pretty sure I read on Clan about another GF beer, Gristmill?, to be sold at Whole Foods.

I've been pinging local groceries through their websites to see if that

helps. Perhaps if enough people do it, then someone will notice. Here's the

I just now received this response for San Ramon Whole Foods:

So despite the fact that they're out - full marks for making it a regular

item and for getting back to me so quickly on a Sunday! I can't wait to

sample this one.

I'm pretty sure that I saw a display banner, the sort a manufacturer sends out, that touted RedBridge's gluten-free properties.

Possibly RedBridge wants to establish itself as a beer for the general/artisan market, rather than playing up its "medical" properties.

Does anyone know where to get New Grist in Berkeley? I'd like to try it. FYI Elephant pharmacy and Adronico's (on N. Shattuck) also carry RedBridge (which is made by the Budweiser company, if anyone cares). I've wondered why RedBridge doesn't actually state anywhere on the bottle that they are gluten-free -- isn't that the whole point? Are they worried about CC and getting sued? Makes me wonder how committed they are to the GF thing (although I haven't gotten sick from it yet AFAIK).

I agree with H--I think it's a marketing decision. All the press indicates that

Redbridge is, in fact, gluten free, but I suppose their marketing gurus have

determined that it is better to advertise its great flavor rather than its

absence of grains that make a lot of people sick :)

For what it's worth, I drink one or two every night and haven't had a problem. If you go to the website for Redbridge it states under " About

Redbridge " that

" Redbridge is made without wheat or barley, so the approximately 3.2

million consumers who are unable to drink beer made with barley due to

Celiac Disease or because they follow a wheat-free or gluten-free diet

can once again enjoy a great tasting beer. "

The paper carton also says " made without wheat or barley. " One reason

not to state " gluten-free " on the label may be that the US is in the

process of defining this term, and may have specific requirements to

have this label, and it makes sense for some companies to hold off on

using it until they know what tests etc. will be required to make this

claim.

It really is my favorite GF beer, and I am glad we have the option

becoming more and more widely available now.
