Hi all,

I don't post very often, but I read and listen to all who do post. I

just thought I'd let you all know I've lost a total of 55 pounds now.

My MGB was on July 20, 2000. I feel great. I am able to eat whatever

I want, just smaller portions, and to eat much slower than I'm used

to...that was the hardest thing for me. But Im working on it. Ive not

had vomiting, diarrhea, or any other problems. I excercise when I

have time, but I am working a fulltime job, parttime job, and a per

diem job as a nurse....so I know how MGB fits into a busy schedule.

My daughter hugged me today and said, " wow mom, you have shoulder

bones...lol "

I thought I would write and tell you all what Im eating. It seems

to be a concern to most as to what post ops eat down the road. I know

it was a concern of mine.

Here is a basic menu of my days meals ( a work day )

515am - Take citracel and multivitamin

530am- leave for work

(sometimes drink a whey protein shake on the way to work, most days

dont)

6am- arrive at work

9am-breakfast- small box of cherieos (single serving size) 1/2

bannana or 1/2 cup melon cut up, 1-2 slices of either rye or raisin

toast with butter, 1 8-oz skim milk

Most mornings I can eat most of that, some mornings I cant

finish the fruit, and only one slice of toast. I always eat the milk

and cereal.

1130am-lunch- small toss salad with regular poppy seed dressing, 1/2

cup cooked vegetables, and sometimes a piece of meat of some kind. I

usually buy lunch in the hospital cafeteria so what ever the special

is I get a half order of turkey or chicken or something. I take

another vitamin.

230 -300pm- nutrigrain bar and apple juice box- sometimes...not

always..if Im hungry I do, if not I dont

5-6pm dinner... small meal of meat potatoe and veggie for example I

could have 1/2 homemade hamberger with swiss cheese on it, 1/2 cup

spinach,1/2 cup mac and cheese.

9pm-snack-some type of fruit...pear, apple,grapes ( I seem to crave

grapes) or some jello, or even sometimes a 1/2 cup of ice cream if Im

in the mood for it. another vitamin and citracel.

I also sip on water throughout the day. I hope this makes sense for

you to read. and each day is similar but different foods of course. I

have had to learn to not load my plate...hard habit to break..your

eyes ARE literally bigger than your stomach lol....

If anyone needs to contact me for anything please feel free to do so

Id be glad to be a contact, or just answer any questions you have

please feel free to email me.

I have no regrets on my decision to have this surgery. I am now at

the lowest weight I have been in 17 years. I couldnt have lost this

much weight any other way. Believe me, I have tried. Im not afraid of

the cancer risk/scare. I was at risk for stomach/esophogas cancer

anyhow due to family history, and reflux disease. I would take my

chances again in a heart beat. I dont feel Im a Rutledge groupie of

any sort, I do believe that he is professional, intelligent, and

human. Ive worked with many doctors in my yrs as a nurse and we all

could have done alot worse, way worse!!! anyhow Im rambleing on and

just wanted to be of some help, hope I did!!!

Safely on the other side in Upstate NY
