Guest guest
Hello, Migrant Health Promotion has created a Promotor model program specifically to address mental health. “Salud Para Todos” (Health for All) trains Promotores and Promotoras (Community Health Workers) to address mental health, substance abuse, stress and violence in their camps and communities. Migrant Health Promotion assists organizations who want to replicate Salud Para Todos in their communities. The program has been replicated in over 10 sites nationwide. The program materials (a manual for Health Workers, a curriculum, and an implementation guide) are available free on our website: http://migranthealth.org/our_programs/program_models/salud_para_todos.php Scroll down to the section called “Materials.” For additional information, contact Migrant Health Promotion at capacity@... or (734) 944-0244. Also, Terry Reilly Health Services has done some great outreach/programming around mental health and have also developed health education materials on the issues. Dear Farmworker Health Colleagues, I am currently working with a client with a social work/counseling background who is interested in learning more about how to do community outreach with farmworkers around mental health issues. Though I am sure that there are models that exist, I am not personally familiar with them. Do you have any experience doing mental health outreach or do you know of organizations that do mental health outreach that I may contact for more information? If so, please correspond with me directly and send me any contacts for follow-up. If list serve participants are interested, I will consolidate whatever information I receive into a resource list to share with the larger group at a later date. Thank you in advance for your help!
