Donna,

You could develop an allergy to anything. It could be to a pill that one has taken for 10 years with no problem. Then one day one gets itchy or has other problems. I know it doesn't make sense but that could be. Then you add the weird things that happen with MS-it could be that as well. Who knows? You could always get it filled with another filler and try that or go liquid LDN. Good luck figuring out what to do.

Okay I have been on the LDN for 8 months. I get my LDN from you Skip. haha! I mean why would I start itching now. It isn't all the time....but does seem worse at nite. And not after I take the LDN either....but then again I lay down to go to sleep and do itch...but that could be because I just notice it more, that would be after my LDN. hmmmmm? It hasn't kept me awake though. But has kept me from going to sleep as fast. My head itched so bad I thought I must have lice! ugh! But no! Thank God! Okay now that I have grossed people out and I have brought a stigma to myself by mentioning lice....haha! I shall go! Hey the cleaner you are the more lice like you! I use to work in schools....I know! Take care All! donnawww.freewebs.com/lovelaugh/ >> If you've received this response twice, I appologize. Have seen " paroxysmal itching " listed in MS Quarterly

and explained what happens to me at times as well as

male partner. For me, warm water for shampoo can

trigger. Orgasam can set off scalp itch.

u're right!!! one can become allergic after yrs. of using any substance or food!! i took penicillin for years, when needed; and one day after using it, i began to itch all over!! same with augmentin!! my son itches like that too!! he's allergic to dust, mold, and several other substances, as i am too!! i cough when i get into a car that hasn't been dusted on the inside for a while; and can tell the owner - it's time to clean the inside of the car!! LOL the itching at night could be from an allergy to the detergent or bleach used to wash bed clothes!! or ur pajamas, even!!!

donna and everyone I really doubt donna is allergic to her filler-it hypoallergenic. having said that. I'm just curious. If one is taking other medications, eatiing food ,using laundry detergent , why is the first thing folks think of is their ldn.  Itchyness can be a lot of things- from some in your laundry detergent to a shift in your immune system.I think before I told anyone to do anything I would ask a bunch of questions . cyndiOn Dec 7, 2006, at 10:44 PM, and Iselborn wrote:Donna,You could develop an allergy to anything. -------Original Message------- From: doofus117Date: 12/7/2006 10:07:32 PMlow dose naltrexone Subject: [low dose naltrexone] Re: To Skip~ LDN? (TAPPING FOOT, WAITING FOR EVERYONE TO QUIET DOWN.)

Okay, it is either the LDN or it isn't. (duh)

There are a gazzilion types of allergic reaction, but lets talk about the temporal relationship between an allergen and an allergic reaction. The most prevalent type is an immediate reaction (< 7days). I see a cat and my eyes swell up and I have a hard time breathing. Immediate reaction. Now, I go into a room where a cat lives and I slowly start to swell and slowing have a hard time breathing. The onset might be a couple of hours to days. I know I have been around cat dander because I know the signs and symptoms.

You can develop allergic reactions to things that have been in your system for years. Not likely, but possible. You immunological system is wacky, and it might take a number of insults (introduction of the allergen) to your system before its starts to react. This is not unheard of and even has a name, subclinical sensitization.. (Its interesting that the shots you get at the doctor to desensitize allergic reactions does just the opposite.)

If you get LDN from us, we use products known for their hypoallergenicity. One of our docs is a world reknowned hyper sens guy and we have worked with him on our compound just so this wouldn't happen. Now you might be sensitive to naltrexone itself and then , well I would go get desensitised.

donna has been on ldn for months without itchy. donna if you were a patient came in and said you itch the first thing I would ask you is what kind changes have you had. new food? new laundry detergent? new stress? new something. i ask where you itching and if you had a rash, if you've been bitten by something, is it worse during the day or the night, i'd ask if you were gojng thru menopause because there is this horrible itchyness you get when your hormones are out of balance (it feels like itchybugs all over you) and I'd go thru this list until we figured out why you were itching.Itching is one of those things like headaches that can be caused by multitude of things. and like Acums Razor-the simplest theory is usually correct.google search itchy and see what you getit could be your ms or it could be a bunch of other things.http://www.madsci.org/posts/archives/mar97/857507616.Me.r.htmlWhat is Itch?Doctors and scientists have been studying itch for a long time, but there still is no completely satisfactory answer to the question of what is itch. Itch can be caused by a wide variety of physical and chemical stimuli, such as light pressure, warming, exposure to acids or bases, or histamine release (allergic reactions). As a practical matter, a major factor in itching is damaged skin. Dryness, either from outdoor exposure or dry heated air, and contact with detergents or hot water can break down the protective barrier that skin provides and allow nerve endings in the skin surface to become irritated. Because itch can be elicited in so many ways, scientists have constructed a fairly detailed classification system. In general though, itch can be divided into 2 categories, sensory itch and allergic itch. Sensory itch is distinguished from allergic itch by the lack of external skin rash or irritation at the itch site.Very early experiments on cutaneous sensation ignored the phenomenon of itch. Later experiments showed that the body was covered by "itch spots", small spots of the skin about 1mm apart which convey a sensation of itch when lightly touched. However, any part of the skin can become itchy if exposed to the correct stimulus. One extremely important bit of information is that a spot that is itchy usually doesn't have pain sensitivity. Itch is not merely a "subliminal" sort of pain. This is well demonstrated by the observation that opioids, such as morphine, are quite good at blocking even severe pain, but also produce itchy skin as a side effect.Researchers have put together a fairly detailed description of the physical aspects of itch, but the physiological mechanism behind itch remains elusive. It is known that itch can only be evoked from superficial layers of skin, mucous membranes or conjunctiva. Therefore, only certain populations of nerves carry itch signals. We know that humans can feel itch when large diameter myelinated (insulated) nerve fibers are blocked , which means that itch is transmitted to the spinal cord and brain through smaller, thinly insulated or uninsulated fibers. This in turn means that sensory endings which are excited by weak mechanical stimulation ( Merkel's discs, Meissner corpuscles, Pacinian corpuscles, etc...) do not transmit the itch sensation. More likely itch is transmitted by lightly insulated or uninsulated nocioceptors (pain receptors) in the superficial skin. Recordings of the activity of these types of neurons have shown that they respond well to many of the stimuli that cause itch.CyndiOn Dec 8, 2006, at 8:53 AM, Bren wrote:Before LDN I had bad itching caused by MS. you might want to try 300mcg of B6 for no more than 6 weeks to see if it helps. This sounds like neuropathy in one of its many different forms.

I get itchy and then break out if I have anything that has artificial dyes.. Like Red Dye 40. I will start to itch and then my face and hand (only the right side) will turn beet red and itch like mad. I have switched my laundry soap to ALL, the one that is dye free. I also have to watch for any type of over the counter cold medicine for RD40. I was eating the all natural fruit pops last summer and broke out so bad because of the dye. So now I just read lables and if it has dye, back on the shelf it goes.. Jello has the dyes in it and I love Jello!
