Guest guest
This sounds great and definately worth a try. Can I ask what mutations for the CF gene your two and a half year old son has. Best wishes Lucinda Fleming-, son Dylan 22 months with cf from Durham in the UK Reply-To: cfparents To: cfparents > Subject: great results with aloe vera juice Date: Thu, 9 Jan 2003 22:17:32 -0600 Hi to all! Just wanted to post about some really great results that we have had using aloe vera juice for our son with cf. We read about the benefits to the digestive system from aloe vera juice and decided to try it. Here is our son's enzyme intake prior to using aloe vera juice: Meals and snacks -- Creon 10 (2-3 capsules) with Pediasure -- Creon 10 (3 capsules) Even on this he still had really mushy bowel movements and still pretty frequent After using the aloe vera juice. He is 2 /12 years old and drinks about 3-5 ounces per day. We waited for 3 weeks before we started reducing enzymes and here is his current intake: Snacks -- no enzymes or 1 Creon 5 Meals -- 1 Creon 5 or 1 Creon 10 with Pediasure -- 1 Creon 10 Now he has solid, well-formed bowel movements and 1 or 2 per day and not in the large amounts as before. We have just been really amazed at such drastic results, but obviously very happy about it. We didnt' tell our doctor we were trying this until we knew if it worked. We just emailed him today and will probably hear back tomorrow. It will be interesting to get his response. Just wanted to share the good news. Thanks, Amy _________________________________________________________________ MSN 8 with e-mail virus protection service: 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/virus
Guest guest
Hi Amy, I would like to know how do you process the juice? Is there any tricks to make it? I can imagine my child refussing to drink something non-sweet. Any receip? Thank you very much in advance, Lucas. Guest guest
Lucas, Happy Birthday to your little boy. We buy the juice already processed I guess. We just mix it with other juices to improve the taste, such as cranberry juice, apple juice or orange juice. I have also heard that you can mix it in foods and things if your child won't drink it but we haven't looked into those options b/c he has been willing to drink it so far. We talked to him about how it will help his belly feel better and he won't have to take as many enzymes, etc. I think involving the child in the decision even at a very early age is really important in helping them be more compliant to the treatment. Hope this helps. Amy Re: great results with aloe vera juice Hi Amy, I would like to know how do you process the juice? Is there any tricks to make it? Guest guest
Hi Amy, congrats to the great results!! And don't be disappointed about your docs reactions. They haven't told you to stop the aloe very juice and unfortunately you can't ask for more at this point. It has been the same with GSH or Crataegus. Whenever an alternative idea comes up, docs won't jump on the bandwagon, regardless of the results they see in one or two patients. And since someone comes up with a new idea all the time and since a lot of that may be just coincidence or snake oil, it's okay that the docs stay neutral at first. I think it was a good idea to mention it here. Should others try it too and should there be significant positive results too then the docs will listen. But we have to be patient.
