What kind of juice is it? 100% or less? Any sugar, preservatives, etc? Additional vitamins in the juice? Maia Oh and 5. I'm really happy to hear about your son > Hi to all! Just wanted to post about some really great results that we have had using aloe vera juice for our son with cf. We read about the benefits to the digestive system from aloe vera juice and decided to try it. Here is our son's enzyme intake prior to using aloe vera juice: > > Meals and snacks -- Creon 10 (2-3 capsules) > with Pediasure -- Creon 10 (3 capsules) > Even on this he still had really mushy bowel movements and still pretty frequent > > After using the aloe vera juice. He is 2 /12 years old and drinks about 3-5 ounces per day. We waited for 3 weeks before we started reducing enzymes and here is his current intake: > > Snacks -- no enzymes or 1 Creon 5 > Meals -- 1 Creon 5 or 1 Creon 10 > with Pediasure -- 1 Creon 10 > Now he has solid, well-formed bowel movements and 1 or 2 per day and not in the large amounts as before. > > We have just been really amazed at such drastic results, but obviously very happy about it. We didnt' tell our doctor we were trying this until we knew if it worked. We just emailed him today and will probably hear back tomorrow. It will be interesting to get his response. > > Just wanted to share the good news. > > Thanks, > > Amy

Guest guest
I think most Dr.'s and nurses know just the medical field. When something natural comes around that may help they are just sceptical. I think it is all a part of their training. I too have been disappointed before of the lack of excitement from the medical community when discussing alternative treatments. Don't let it discourage you if it is right for you and yours. mom of 19yowcf

Guest guest
1. My son is 2 1/2 years old 2. He is double deltaf508 3. Pediasure is a supplement like ensure used for nutrition and weight gain. He doesn't really need pediasure anymore. He did when he was around 14 months old, but even after the doctor suggested taking him off of it, he still wants it. He loves to drink one with his breakfast every morning. I figure it is healthy for him so I haven't bothered trying to get him to quit drinking it. 4. It is 100% juice with no sugar. Maybe some preservatives -- not sure on that one. There are no additional vitamins in the juice either, just straight aloe vera basically and something that thins it into more of a liquid instead of gel. I mix his with other juice, usually cranberry juice, sometimes apple juice if I am out of cranberry. And I use 100% of those also. Here is the response from our doctor's office -- Very interesting!! I'll share with Dr. W and with the dietician. The telling factor will be his long term growth. See you in the spring!! Beth I was kind of disappointed. They didn't sound very excited. I wanted them to jump up and down in amazement. LOL Hope this helps, Amy Amy 1. How old is you son? You said 2 or 12? Or 2 1/2? sorry... 2. Do you know his mutations? 3. What is Pediasure???? 4. Guest guest
Thanks to all of you who were excited to hear about Tristan. I am disappointed with our clinic response. At the Iowa City Clinic I talked to one of the nurses. Here was her response -- Very interesting!! I'll share with Dr. W and with the dietician. The telling factor will be his long term growth. See you in the spring!! Beth I guess I was hoping for more than " very interesting " Also at our local clinic, the nurse didn't sound impressed in the least bit. in fact she sounded sceptical and more or less cautioned us to be careful and as long as we know what to look for if it is not working b/c " some of that stuff works for awhile you know " and also you could tell she didn't want us telling anybody b/c she repeated more than once that just b/c it works for him doesn't mean it would work for other people with cf and specifically mentioned the names of some of the other children in our area who use the clinic. It is just frustrating. I would expect them to be more happy to hear that we have found something that helps so significantly. Anyway, thanks again for all your encouragement. Otherwise, I would have been bummed. Amy 4 great results with aloe vera juice Hi to all! Guest guest
Amy, I'm sorry you were disappointed by the clinic's response. Basically, my doctor has told us flat out that he can't support anything that doesn't have a double-blind randomized trial behind it. Whatever. Anyway, we do several alternative things, crataegus supplements being the main one, and when I showed the doctor everything, all the papers that support its use, the jar of tablets, and 's sitting right in front of him, not culturing a thing, perfectly healthy, jumping up on the growth curve, and he just shrugs and says, " can't hurt. " Hmph. At least you got double exclamation points, LOL. I am so happy that the aloe vera is working for your son...Jake is almost 2/5 and also double df508. I am thinking about trying the aloe vera juice with him. Of course he just decided he much prefers chocolate milk to juice. ;-) )O( mama to , 2yo, w/CF, and , 4yo, no CF RE: Re: great results with aloe vera juice 1. My son is 2 1/2 years old 2. LOL Hope this helps, Amy

Guest guest
Hi Amy, I beleive that's why we're here... We were all searching for validation when we follow our hearts and the results work, or need an understanding shoulder to cry on when our hearts are breaking under the strain. I'm not at all surprised at the lukewarm response you got from the nurses. It's not the first time and won't be the last. But I'm so excited for your good results! I just ordered some Mannatech products last Sunday. They arrived Wednesday. I haven't seen yet to give them to him but when we discussed following this course, he was very interested. It's almost no big deal for him -- whatever I've tried in the past for him works. And this past year what we've been doing has worked better than what his doctor has been doing -- so I know we're on the right track! Guest guest
This sounds great and definately worth a try. Can I ask what mutations for the CF gene your two and a half year old son has. Best wishes Lucinda Fleming-, son Dylan 22 months with cf from Durham in the UK Reply-To: cfparents To: cfparents > Subject: great results with aloe vera juice Date: Thu, 9 Jan 2003 22:17:32 -0600 Hi to all! Just wanted to post about some really great results that we have had using aloe vera juice for our son with cf. We read about the benefits to the digestive system from aloe vera juice and decided to try it. Here is our son's enzyme intake prior to using aloe vera juice: Meals and snacks -- Creon 10 (2-3 capsules) with Pediasure -- Creon 10 (3 capsules) Even on this he still had really mushy bowel movements and still pretty frequent After using the aloe vera juice. He is 2 /12 years old and drinks about 3-5 ounces per day. We waited for 3 weeks before we started reducing enzymes and here is his current intake: Snacks -- no enzymes or 1 Creon 5 Meals -- 1 Creon 5 or 1 Creon 10 with Pediasure -- 1 Creon 10 Now he has solid, well-formed bowel movements and 1 or 2 per day and not in the large amounts as before. We have just been really amazed at such drastic results, but obviously very happy about it. We didnt' tell our doctor we were trying this until we knew if it worked. We just emailed him today and will probably hear back tomorrow. It will be interesting to get his response. Just wanted to share the good news.
