Hi Sheila,

He's had apple juice before at school and other functions like the

basketball/soccer games of my older son. The apples in the pancakes were

peeled, cored and pureed in the food processor. The only time I think he's had

applesauce was 5 years ago when we were transitioning from baby food and then

regular food. But he was also eating the fruit cups too then. His BM's have

formed again now that he's only eating the pears today I'm introducing bananas.

I talked to his teachers on Friday and they said he was wired and giggly all

week, could that be a " reaction " or it that just his autism shining through? I

may be reading too much into it. I only saw it Friday morning before the bus.

I have a column in my food diary labeled " Behaviors " just in case if he displays

a different behavior than what I'm used to seeing.

Thanks,

until after lunch and we had the apple pancakes for breakfast at 7.

Could it be that he's not " allergic " (a mom's diagnosis as we've had

zero testing done)?

Was that the first time he had gala apples? Were the apples in the

pancakes very tender when cooked? Has he had applesauce before?

She did hit the nail right on the head for my little man. He loves them and

they don't love him. They fill his diaper full.

It may be a phenol reaction or intolerance. Either way I'd avoid

the apples for a while. Maybe try them again cutiously when he has

been doing well for a while - and only a small amount (~1/4 cup).

Glad to hear his bm's are formed again :) Sounds like the bananas

and pears are winners.

Hi Sheila,

Thanks for the advice. So when can I give him vitamins or should I be doing

that already? I weighed him the other day and he only weighs 37 lbs. He's six,

I was alarmed to see that but then not really I guess because his diet was so

limited to not healthy foods.

Thanks again,

You could do that now. There are legal vitamins at

http://www.lucyskitchenshop.com/freedavitamins.html

Lucy's website also has a chart for age and amounts of the vits.
