Hey Everyone!!!!

I must admit that I am a " lurker " ..... I signed on to this group a very long

time ago but never took the time to post. I just kind of read along to see how

other people handled WLS and pregnancy.

Here is a little detail about me. I am 33 and will be 34 by the time the baby

arrives.

This will be my husband's first child and my second. My daughter is 17 and I

decided that I wanted to have at least one for my husband. I am hoping that it

is a boy, but will be just as happy as long as it is healthy.

I had my WLS done April 2002 after a traumatic miscarriage in June 2001. I

miscarried at 7 weeks. I started spotting and so they gave me an ultrasound and

found that it was a nonviable pregnancy.

Well, since the surgery, I have lost 135 pounds and I feel great.

I went yesterday and had my ultrasound done. I told the doctor that I could

not get excited about the pregnancy until they confirmed for me that this was a

viable pregnancy. Well, little " man " is tucked in on the left side at the

moment and it was amazing to see his little heart pumping away!!! It was very

easy to spot the head and the little " booty. " I could even see a little spot for

the eyes.

From his length.....he is due on 10-12-2004....which is cute because my

birthday is 10-04. I am 8 weeks along.

The last time I had my blood levels checked (before pregnancy); everything

was normal and on the up and up. I am praying that it will continue. I go for

all my blood work tomorrow and I see the doctor again on Monday. I am hoping

that they will go ahead and mark me as high risk so I can be closely monitored.

I

don't want any surprises, but I know that what the Creator says will be ...

will be and there is nothing we can do about it so I am just really praying

that the pregnancy will go smoothly.

So far, as long as I eat really good I do not have morning sickness. It's

weird, but I have the worst diarrhea!!! The doctor gave me a prescription to

help

stop it and in the last 24 hours it has really calmed down.....the next issue

is that I cannot sleep through the night!!!!! It's like I feel growth spurts

at 1 am in the morning!!!!

I wish everyone much success and happiness in their pregnancies.....and I

hope the same for me.

To Life and Love,

Shahida Muhammad
