Guest guest
Hi julie: what do you mean about 's burgers being a problem? And, what are 's burgers? I know what you mean about baking - my son Evan usually does not end up eating the stuff I make, he prefers stuff wrapped nicely from the store!!! I either give it to my other son, who usually will not eat either, or just throw it out. Bread is the hardest to replicate, still cannot get a non gummy recipe. Guest guest
HI: thanks for this website. One question: i assume the primo bread contains a dairy free substitute and NOT butter. I could not tell from the website because it states that it could contain one or the other. Please let me know, because i am insearch of a good white toastable bread. Thanks,

Guest guest
We recently had an " almost " success with the ALTA hamburger buns (they were frozen and I microwaved them to thaw and then toasted a touch) - close enough that I think if I experiment with toasting slightly more and adding garlic butter (margerine) they might be okay. It was so close to a success already that I went ahead and ordered one each of every kind of bread and bun that Kinnikinnick sells that sounds even close to being acceptable and I'm really hoping we'll find *something* that can be bought that we can live with. I've had it with the bread baking failures too. It's too much work and expense to be left with nothing to eat and dishes to do and a kid who's still hungry. Not to mention the times my husband and I really liked something (for instance the Noah's bread donuts) that my son hated and we ended up eating them all and we DON'T need to be eating donuts, but I feel like after working so hard and spending the money it's hard to keep throwing everything out. Boy, that news about how gross fast food is came out just in time. My son was hooked on 's burgers, but now he agrees we'll stick with 's beef and make burgers at home, and if the ALTA buns work out, one problem solved, just a few more to go...... Guest guest
My son eats PB and J on toast. It is one of his staples. The only bread he will eat is Gluten Free Cookie Jar's 'Primo White Bread' which I mail order every three weeks. It is sliced very thin so it toasts great (you have to toast it twice to get it really toasty and crunchy). We also use it for regular toast, and for grilled cheese sandwiches (Tofutti sliced American cheese, Fleischman's margerine). He won't eat it unless it's toasted or grilled. If you go to their website www.glutenfreecookiejar.com to order, be sure to specify casein free in the " special instructions " section of the order page. Also, we put it right in the freezer and only transfer a few slices to the fridge at a time. It 'performs' much better when very fresh. I know I sound like an advertisement, but we couldn't live without this bread right now! Keep in mind they ship in batches so it usually takes about 2 weeks from time of order to get it. We also order their plain and cin-raisin bagels. These, if stored properly and nuked just the right amount of time, come out great. We may end up without shirts on our backs, but we WILL have crunchy toast! Charlene Mommy to ie (5), Caroline (5), (2)
Guest guest
, I read something yesterday about a book coming out that details exactly what's in fast food (not necessarily 's in particular but all fast food) and that diseased dairy cows are used for the ground beef and then my husband and son happened to see a news story on it on TV last night, so I was able to convince my son that we're better off without 's. 's is a brand of beef I get at my grocery store - the cows are fed grain and raised without hormones and antibiotics. There's a website, www.laurasleanbeef.com (I think that's it) that can tell you if it's available near you.

We've really had to simplify, even if it means we go into debt buying ready made foods. Have you been able to find Ener-G breads? My health foods store sells these breads frozen. Ben likes the Tapioca bread. It's white, sliced thin and doesn't fall apart too easily. Whole Foods and Henry's carry it in Southern Calif. Guest guest
Ezekiel bread can be found in some Kroger stores (frozen food section). Dale bread > Hi, > > My name is Dorene. Guest guest
Hi Dorene: I've also seen it at Whole Foods and a fairly small independent high end specialty grocery store near me. This tells me just about any grocer could get it if they wanted to. Dale bread > > > > > > > Hi, > > > > > > My name is Dorene. I wanted to tell you about a bread I have been > > > using. Guest guest
> My name is Dorene. I wanted to tell you about a bread I have been > using. It has no flour. It is called Ezekiel 4:9 I like Ezekiel Bread and use it from time to time as a lower-carb alternative. (It's only slightly lower, but it's higher in fiber and has no white flour or sugar, so it's a somewhat better choice). I haven't tried the cinnamon, as I just naturally assume I would toast 4 slices at a time and eat them with butter and honey, so it's best to keep them out of the house. ~~ Lyn G

I get something called " Best Bread " from synergydiet.com and it's very low carb and quite tasty. They make several different kinds - I like the sourdough best, and the cinnamon raisin is pretty good too. Had myself a BLT with it over the weekend (you guys and all your bacon talk... ;o) Sally 298 (BMI 49)/-113/185 Goal: 150 lap RNY 7/10/02 Dr. Quinlin/Pittsburgh

One slice has 6.9 g carbs (1.6 is fiber, 0 g sugars), 7.6 g protein. $6.19 per loaf plus shipping (I order several things at once from them - if you order $55 or more, shipping is free.) For more info: http://www.synergydiet.com/besbreadar.html Their bagels are great, hamburger and hot dog buns are great too. I also like their crackers and some of the other products.
