Hi Jeanne

Well, I replied and did it wrong, so here goes again.

I have 3 cats (rescued a stray who surprised me with 8 additions). I

found homes for most but was left with two kittens. I have 2 rescued

dogs. My beloved Doberman of 13 years died Feb 11 this year.

The 3 day protien fast -- I was just reading thru messages and they

kept talking about a 3 day protien fast. As I understand, you drink

up to 5 protien shakes a day and have a light protien meal in the

evening. I am not really clear on how it is done.

I had Gastroplasty done in 1984. In the last 6 years,I have gained

all my weight back plus more. I thought maybe a short protien fast

might help get me more motivated in this weight loss struggle.

Then I found out about people having revisions done. I just don't

know what to do.

Lets see if this works.

I presently have 4 cats, all rescues, 1 yellow lab/husky,. The last of 3 who

were all rescued around the same time in 1992.

The Grad list is where everyone was who decided to do protein this week. You

know, each person developed their own plan. Some went to protein shakes & water

only, some kept 2 protein-only meals, some did veggies. Looked like everyone

benefited in some way.

I already do 6+ shakes a day, so no change for me.

I use ProScore 100 choc for my #1, and Pure Whey Stack choc for my " to go "

model.

Yep. For years I used 50/50 PB55 choc & van. But the Stack is so much richer.

Nothing wrong with PB55, not a " lesser " product or anything, but when we're

talking choc, we're talking Champion, either PS100 or Stack. LOL!

Stack shakes up fast, but the choc is so rich. I premeasure them (30g) into

plastic bottles and have 4 in each car, several on the shelf, so I can just grab

'n go.

First off, welcome to the group. You certainly have a lot to deal

with and I can understand how you can be overwhelmed.

Here's a link on what to look for on labels (you have to click on " 2 "

to get to the second page):

http://zingsolutions.com/food/hidden.htm

I actually copied and pasted the info in the blue boxes into Word.

Then I printed the info to make handy little cards to take to the

grocery store.

Since your dd has had an episode of hives, swelling and wheezing, you

should ask for an epi-pen jr. Our ped. didn't hesitate to give us one

when we asked.

I have tons of websites saved, so let me know if you are looking for

anything in particular.

Hi Brittany! Welcome to our group!

It does sound like you have your hand's full with all of Talli's allergies. My daughter, Josie, is 21 months old and is allergic to milk, eggs, beef and peanuts. While hers are the top few allergies (besides beef), there are lots of people in this group who have children with some of the same allergies as Talli. So I'm sure you'll get lots of info.

I can't answer your formula question because I nursed Josie until 15 months and went right to rice milk from there, so she never had straight milk.

As far as the Epi-Pen, I think it would probably be a good idea to get since she has experienced the face swelling and wheezing! That is anaphylactic. We've had ours for almost a year now and luckily we've never had to use it but better safe than sorry. I keep one in our kitchen cupboard, one in my purse and one at daycare.

Better run for now...Josie wants to play catch! Take care and it was nice to 'meet' you!

Hi Brittany,

Welcome to the group. I know how frustrating it is to feed a child

with so many restrictions.

As far as I know, whenever a childs face swells and is weezing, give

him a shot of epipen jr and take him to the ER. What did the docs say

at the ER the evening you took her in? Did they say that she was

having anaphalaxis?

Is Talli getting enough fat in her diet? It is so important for

brain development. We have a physician friend who used to spoon feed

her children margerine to boost brain development.

Hang in there, I know it is hard to deal with it on a daily basis.

You've come to the right group for information and support.

Hi Brittany!

Welcome to the loop! I am not familiar with some of the things you need help with, I am sorry! I would go ahead and get an Epipen Jr, it can not hurt! I keep one in my purse and 1 at home, and have never needed it. I have a 7yo son who is allergic to eggs, tree nuts, and various indoor and out door allergies. He is on allergy shots and has eczema which seems to flare up then go away at wierd times!! Take care, and we will try to help you best we can! a great group of ladies here!

Hi, I am Brittany, mom to a 22 month old with some severe food allergies. I am hoping that you can help me. Talli, my daughter, has a metabolic disorder, Propionic Acidemia (see www.oaanews.org or http://www.savebabies.org/familystories/TalliPA.htm for info), and is limited to 10.5g of protein per day, so I usually only give her things that have 2g or less in an adult serving size. Welcome Brittany.

I'm sorry you and your daughter have so many allergies to deal with! We have

a peanut allergy at our house, along with some environmental allergies and

pets. We also have tons of problems with eczema. Drew will be 8 in January.

We have 2 other children, Mattie () who will be 5 in two days and

who is almost 15 months old. Neither of them have any signs of

allergies yet (knock on wood).

YES on the Epi Pen. Better safe than sorry! And about your question on

still having a reaction on her medications, if it is a severe reaction

nothing is going to mask the symptoms. We use Zyrtec for Drew. It helps with

the itchiness that accompanies eczema and his environmental allergies. But

it only helps!! LOL He still gets all stuffy, etc. when the pollen is really

bad.

Hang in there and PLEASE feel free to vent, cry, brag, laugh, etc. with us!

that is what we are here for.

----- Original Message -----

We have a metabolic dietician that follows her. Right

now she is getting about 40% of her calories from fat,

she is on some specialty low/no protein formulas. She

is monitored pretty closely, so she doesn't get too

much protein which can cause brain damage and not

enough which causes malnutrition.

I have another question- Will she react to all of the

foods she is allergic to while she is taking benedryl,

zyrtec, and Singulair? It seems that she might be

reacting to something and I miss it with all of the

meds she is taking.

Thanks,

Brittany
