Welcome ,

I am a grandmother too. Shelby was diagnosed in February 2001 at three months

old. She is now 19 months and getting into everything. This group has been

great for help and support and helping you to cope.

I am in the UK but you are more than welcome to email me if you feel you want to

talk to another " grandma " , about anything at all. Shelby's mum is a single

mother so I get involved a lot with Shelby's treatment.

Hi ,

Have you had your labs done? This is very important, as I had gotten sick

from not eating right and not taking protein or supplements. Nutritionists

who are savvy on RNY WLS are very hard to find, therefore, I would say (In my

opinion) that they are a waste of money. Does your surgeon have follow-up

care? I wouldn't have surgery if your iron or proteins are low. You won't

heal well. Although dark circles, etc., are NORMAL for a period of time, it

shouldn't still be that noticeable.

you have lost an entire PERSON in weight, and need to make sure you are

healthy. If you are craving carbos and sugar, my first thought is to increase

your protein. Are you drinking protein shakes? How many a day? If not, get

with vitalady immediately and order some samples from her to try and then

drink, drink, drink.

Take care, and congrats on all that weight lost!

Hi my name is and I am 24 months post op from laproscopic RNY. I have

lost about 155 lbs (depending on the day). I learned about this group from

reading a reply on the AMOS boards. I have not lost any weight in about 7

months. I am about 30 pounds from goal. I did have the tummy tuck, and am

scheduled August 28th for thighs, upper arms, and breast lift (all at

once!). My eating is horrendous. While I have not been gaining - I have

not been losing. Back into the carbs big time - bagels, cookies, ice cream,

etc. Feeling very fatigued. Low iron levels - not sure if I'm getting

enough protein. I would love to find a local nutritionist who understands

WLS. I know I need a nutritional " overhaul " . I also have DARK circles

under my eyes, which are driving me crazy - I look " haggard " . Any

suggestions would be welcome. I hope to learn something from the other

successful grads.

Welcome, . This is a great group, and a good source of information. It's

funny - my appetite increased greatly after my tummy tuck as well. I was so

angry at myself, that I went through all that for a flat stomach, and then was

eating myself into a weight gain. I've spoken with a few others who had the

same reaction.

I can tell you that forcing yourself off carbs for a few days, and concentrating

on extra protein, water and exercise does really help decrease the cravings. It

sounds easy, and I know it's not always, but it does help a great deal. Also,

you're right about a nutritionist. Seeing someone is a very good idea. Where

do you live? Maybe someone one the board can recommend a nutritionist in your

area.

One other point - you didn't say how tall you are, but your weight is pretty

low, and it could just be that your body has found the weight it wants to stay

at. Sometimes our personal goals are not realistic. I thought I would get much

lower, but no matter what I do, this is where my body wants to stay. And so

I've decided that this is it - and have been much happier since I've accepted

that.
