Guest guest
I am so sorry to hear about your Permobile problems. I'm not sure I understand your question so feel free to e-mail me on or off list to clarify. As to controls on the panel... I have two ways to control the electronic add ons on my Permobile Chairman 2K. The first is a bar with arrows on it that sits behind the shield that carries the toggle switch to drive the chair. The arrows control up and down on each feature. The second control I learned about this year after having the chair almost 5 years! If you turn on the chair then press mode twice. Notice the red dot on the w/c picture below the power indicator. The red dot indicates the power feature that can now be controlled by moving the joy stick forward or backward (side to side chooses a different power option). The power features I've had added to my chair are a leg rest elevator, a seat elevator (raises the seat up to 18 " above baseline), a recline feature, and a tilt feature. All were $800 - $2000 dollar add ons that insurance approved because of my prognosis. I did not elect to have the lights or turn signals since I do not drive ok the street. Guest guest
http://www.permobilusa.com/templates/startpage.aspx?id=806http://www.permobilus\ a.com/templates/startpage.aspx?id=806> Go right to the company that makes them. - No company should treat you like that. If you need to search for more information, just put the word Permobile into Google search.. They will tell you everything you want to know.. Joan PLEASE HELP I think I am being ripped of by my vender Permobile Is Apria the only one who carries the Permobile - chairman? They sold me, insurance, MDA and medicare a Permobile w/c and listed it for$37,000.00 (they said they listed it at that so medicare would pay the required limit). Edith (on ALS site) bought one from her vender (Apria - FL), that had a lift, a foot drop, lights, all the reclining technology, and they listed hers for $17,000 (if I remember correctly). I had to paid an extra $2000.00 for a lift so I could reach things in the kitchen etc. Now, I need a footdrop because lifting my foot off and back on the foot rest has become a fall hazzard. I contacted (Apria - Greensboro, NC) and they said they would install it for another $2300.00. I saved my money and finally contacted them. About two weeks after payment, Mr. Fix-it showed up at 8:45 PM and worked until 11:00 PM (I was told they would be here sometime that day). When he brought my w/c back into the house I wanted to cry. After waiting at home all day, all I got was a poor excuse for a foot drop. Mr Fix-it added a toggle switch next to my stearing toggle - my hand got caught between the two toggles, propelling me and my bare feet up under the kitchen cabinets. (scraped skin off toes, and badly brused, but lucky no broken bones) Did I mention the toggle switch had been roughly cut from metal capiable of cutting human skin? He attached the toggle, to the chair, with stiff tape - the corners of the tape rolled up on the edges picking my PJ's and other clothes. Around the taped he added an electical wire. My foot plate was wobbly and was about two inches lower (cutting off cerculation to my legs). All this for only $2300,00. Both my husband and myself pitched a fit! I told them to come take the junk off and refund my money. They showed up with a loner chair - said it would take a week - Mr. Fix-it only took two hours to put it on. I know the foot drop can be put on the panel, without a toggle, tape or electrical wire, because Edith has one. I told the rep; and he said that they had contacted the manufactor who said it couldn't be done. When I had the lift added they put that on the panel - AFTER they swore they couldn't do that either. Now, about the loner chair - it still smells like a heavy-duty bug spray (after having it for three days, washing it, and letting it air on the porch). The w/c has no padding except for the cover. Coming off the ramp it pitches forward, lifting off the back wheel's, like it's going to pitch forward or throw me out of my seat. The seat itself is 20 inches long, I'm 5'4, my legs go straight out (pain from my neck to my toes). My question is - does Edith have the only chair made by Permobile that has a lift, a drop, a recline, and lights on one panel? Acording to Apria NC I have to prove that it can be done. Thank you for tolerating my bad mood. I would DEEPLY, DEEPLY appreciate anyone who could send, or email me any info., a copy of the control panel and how it works to move the foot drop, or anything else. Apria needs it, please tell me it's possible! Thank you, Donna I.
Guest guest
Donna, I would immediately contact your insurance company, Medicare and MDA and send them a copy of your posting and report them as fraudulent. Permobile lists all of their prices on their website and you are being ripped off. Guest guest
Thanks Joan, I'll contact them. If you need to search for more information, just put the word Permobile into Google search.. Guest guest
Lavon, THANK YOU! That is what I was looking for. Apria said they had to add a second toggle and I knew better. Your chair is just like mine - they can put the foot rest lift in the part where you guide the chair - you gave me what I needed. Thank you so much. Donna > > I am so sorry to hear about your Permobile problems. I'm not sure I > understand your question so feel free to e-mail me on or off list to > clarify. As to controls on the panel...
