I think that a woman anticipating a poor outcome who actually had a very good physical outcome, meaning minimal nerve and blood vessel damage, can prevent herself from reaching her full sexual potential following the hysterectomy through her expectations. However, if the was significant neve damage which will prevent the nerve impulses from travelling to the brain, or blood vessel damage that prevents the sexual organs from engorging fully, I don't think all the positive thinking in the world will help that woman to a satisfying sexual experience. Psychology can't overcome physiology. Doctors have been feeding women the idea that sex is all in the head for women for too many decades -- because in the past, they simply didn't know what impacted a woman's sexual performance but today, while we still don't everything about the physiology of women's sexual experience, these doctors simply haven't bothered to stay up to date on what has been found out about sex and women.
