Guest guest
ME! ME! ME! :-) I had my DD in July of 2003. I had been told earlier that I had a BU (like in 1996 or something like that.) I was monitored slightly closer than normal because they thought I was BU. (I just found out in the fall of 2005 that I have a septum that is 3mm long and reaches almost all the way to my cervix. I also found out I had a vaginal septum as well.) My pregnancy was textbook. Cervix stayed nice and closed, DD was not breech (she was at first, but she turned on her own at week 30!!!!) And, she was born on her due date at 40 weeks. Childbirth, on the other hand, was a different story. I had 42 hours of labor and an emergency c-section. But, still, 40 weeks with a septum and an uneventful pregancy qualifies me as a " success story " right? I am sure there are thousands of stories like mine out there. I did have re-section surgery just last week to remove the septum, but I was really on the fence about it for a long time. Good luck to you!!! > > I have a septate uterus & am 5wks & 5 days pregnant. Guest guest
I had same w/ septate u- pregnancy was textbook, cervix stayed nice and closed, childbirth was 42 hours non-progressing labor attributed to face that septum which extends down into my cervix was holding the cervix closed. i got to 8 cm (4 cm on each side of the cervix) w/o drugs, and that baby had major heart decelerations the entire time- i was begging for a c section for days, then they finally did it. they considered cutting the cervical septum for the birth but i know that wouldve been a disaster/ hemorrhaging. Take home message; JUST PLAN A C-SECTION!!!!!! > > >
Guest guest
Is ur septum 3mm long OR 3cm long ? Cause I was wondering if 3mm long septum can reach all the way to cervix.. > > > > I have a septate uterus & am 5wks & 5 days pregnant. Guest guest
my guess is that the person who gave their septal dimension was talking about a 3cm or mm WIDE septum, not that it was just short septum, but i didnt follow this whole train. my septum extended into my vagina as well, thru the cervix, but there was also a " hole " in it somewhere in the uterus, no one has ever told lme how thick it is i think its very hard to measure accurately --- vj_boston vj_boston@...> wrote: > > Is ur septum 3mm long OR 3cm long ? > Cause I was wondering if 3mm long septum can reach > all the way to cervix.. > > > > > > > > > I have a septate uterus & am 5wks & 5 days > pregnant. Guest guest
The only reason I had to ask this question because I am diagnosed with an arcuate uterus with 4mm indentation.. I was told by OB/gyn 4mm is not a problem.. I have my appointmnet with RE on 2nd feb for further opinion.. So I got lil worried about my 4mm indentation. > > > > > > > > I have a septate uterus & am 5wks & 5 days > > pregnant. Guest guest
Hi , congratulations on your pregnancy. One more success story for you: I have a complete SU, septum extends to my cervix. I delivered my daughter vaginally at 40 weeks one day 18 months ago. The pregnancy was 'near-normal' - I had a massive bleed at 14 weeks due to placenta previa, possibly related to the SU. My cervix was fine until 29 weeks, when it started to funnel and become dynamic. I was taken off work for the rest of my pregnancy, but was never on complete bedrest. The labour was horrendous, similar to Heidi and Sheryl perhaps - long, disorganised contractions, after 4 hours of pushing my daughter was delivered on the third vaccumm extraction attempt. If that hadn't worked I'd have had a C-Section. I am also currently 14 weeks 4 days pregnant with my 2nd. I'm not being followed as closely this time as my first pregnancy went (relatively speaking) so well. This time my baby is in my right horn, my dd Zoya was in my left horn previously. For a first pregnancy I rec'd you be followed by a perinatoligist or MFM doctor. Some (not many) MA women have problems with incompetent cervix, its best to have your cervix measured throughout your 2nd trimester. Also, the main concern later on is pre-term labour, you'll have to been intimitely aware of the signs of ptl and respond quickly to any odd sensations, etc. There is a higher risk of 1st trimester m/c with SU, unfortunately. I don't think very much can be done to guard against 1st trimester loss, but try not to get discouraged - so many of us have made it without a loss. Also, imagine all the of women around the world who have no idea they even have an MA ... All the best, a 37 Complete SU, unresected 14 wks 4 days prg with #2 dd 18 months old

Guest guest
Hi, Here's another success story for you! My son was born in '98 - I had no idea at the time I was SU. He was breech (toes first) and early (36 weeks) & was delivered by c-section. He weighed in at 5 lbs 7 oz and was taken straight to my room with no problems. He was taken early because I had pregnancy induced hypertension & my placenta had begun to calcify from it, making for an unhealthy living environment for him. You are fortunate to know what you have so that you can be monitored. I was diagnosed as having a fibroid during my pregnancy - which was probably just the SU. 's birth was one of the best days in my life - he is such a joy and blessing to us. I wish you the same, and a healthy pregnancy. Keep us posted on your progress! , 35 SU - resected 6/28/05 DS 3/13/98 16w 3d w/#2 Septate uterus & pregnant I have a septate uterus & am 5wks & 5 days pregnant.
