Guest guest
To all who have a problem with constipation like I do , due to all the calcium I have to take and all the other med's that have the side effect that causes it. I found the prune route but their YUCKY so I now drink those little cans of pear nectar. It works and much more pleasant then prunes!!.........Flora

Guest guest
Good Morning Thurza, My name is Carolyn Kahle, HSP-- have bee dealing with condtipation for several years , not sure if is from a Brain Aneurysm or HSP, I see a Digestive Disorder Dr. and he is not sure, but he has me on a very high fiber diet, which is starting to work. I took the recipe to him you have here and he told me not to use the Senna Tea , it is a laxative, but the rest of it was good. Figs are very high in fiber. If you dont have a high fiber diet try to get one it sure does help. I am going to ask the DR. about " a very elongated bowel " Thank You for the information. carolyn HSP ----NC thurzacampbell jimthurza@...> wrote: There's been lots of chat lately about constipation lately, so I thought I'd chime in with one old comment and two new ones. Here's the Constipation Paste, which was posted quite some time ago, and which I make to take every day. Anti-Constipation Fruit Paste From Bobbi Woodward, PLS 1 lb. Prunes 1lb. Raisins 1 lb. Figs 1 c. lemon juice 1 c. brown sugar 4 oz. Pkg Senna Tea Steep tea 5 minutes in 3 ½c. boiing water. Strain to 2 c. Add fruit and boil until soft on stove top or in microwave. Add sugar and lemon juice. Puree in food processor. Add more tea if needed. Freeze. Take 1–2 T. per day New thoughts - I think the Senna Tea (which you buy in a health food store) is the most potent ingredient. You might try just drinking a cup a day. Finally, when I had my first colonoscopy last month, the doctor told me that I had " a very elongated bowel " and that " it is a condition he has found in many others with neurological diseases " ! He further explained that the elongated bowel partially explains my constipation problems. My neuro had never heard of this symptom. I've since talked with one PLSer who has the same condition. Are there others of you who've been told you have an elongated bowel? Thurza ps - I really wish all of our anecdotal symptoms were tabulated, don't you? Guest guest
Thanks for sharing that Thurza, I guess it is different for everyone, but i find that anything with senna in it...or anything that causes cramping of the bowel, results in spasms in the abdominal muscles too. Now this doesn't mean that this is so for everyone. I have a lot of torso symptoms...so I have to watch anything that might cause bowel cramps. However, i am sure those of us who may have to avoid the cramping also could leave out the senna tea. Thanks so much for sharing your paste recipe! Take good care! Guest guest
I find that licorice and magnesium vitamin tablets do it for me. Guest guest
Flora, I thought it was " an apple a day keeps the doctor away " . Never heard the pipes version. Anyway, did the kiwi help? They are not plentiful here in No Calif but if it works I would try it.
