Guest guest
If you are LADA, could you control diabetes with diet and exercise? ~Sandy
Guest guest
Not really..unless you're in the " honeymoon period " . By definition, LADA is autoimmune. That means your body is attacking itself -- in this case, beta cells, which are being depleted. Beta cells are what carries insulin throughout the body, if I have this right. And if I don't, someone is sure to say so. So...at the beginning of LADA, you may have some beta cells left. But eventually you won't, and insulin becomes necessary. Just like type1s. Diet and exercise won't work, neither will pills. Instead of worrying whether you're LADA or not, Sandy, when you see your doctor next, insist on the GAD antibody test. Then, based on the results, you can stop fussing and take appropriate action. Guest guest
Vicki, Close, but--- Beta cells in the Pancreas " make " the insulin which is then carried to the cells by the blood. A minor point >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Beta cells are what carries insulin throughout the body, if I have this right. And if I don't, someone is sure to say so.. Guest guest
For a while... until it progresses beyond the point of being able to manage it with d&e, which will happen when your pancreas make too little or no insulin.
